Would you put Michael Owen in the next England squad?

I've no problem with booing Ashley Cole, but doing it just after a mistake will just wreck his confidence and maybe make him make another one. Best to boo him when his name's announced in the starting line-up, and at full-time.

No player should be booed at anytime for England.

How would the players be able to read your mind and differentiate your booing as booing for Ashley Cole and Cole alone, and not the entire team?

I say don't boo him at all. The people that booed him are gits. What does booing accomplish? It only further wracks his confidence and he plays WORSE.

Of course he made a mistake, but we won 5-1! Forgive him.

I may be laying myself open to accusations of double standards here but there was a time when Kieron Dyer was booed by Newcastle fans while playing for England at St James' Park. He was booed because he refused to play on the right wing when Bobby Robson told him to in a Newcastle away game. I whole-heartedly agreed with that, as it was one of the things that got Bobby the sack and was his first appearance at SJP since it happened.

Bentley got booed as well early on last season over the U-21 "tiredness" fiasco. That was more understandable I suppose too, though if I had been there I personally wouldn't have booed.

The booing of Ashley Cole (who is largely disliked by a lot of people anyway) was for a mistake and is not acceptable. If he retires from international football I'm sure the same people will say he's walking out on his country etc. Wembley seems to be getting a pantomime crowd these days I must say. The team was booed as a whole anyway at half time. Maybe this thread is getting off topic... someone create a new one and move this in there.

I don't agree with this type of booing as it is club related but at least that is understandable to an extent with it being played at a club ground and the Bobby Robson issue.
I don't agree with any booing though as it only has a negative effect on the team.

    Exactly. Great point.

The last one got locked so it's probably best we all drop it.

if i had £80,000 a week spare, i would pay ashley cole that sum to retire from all forms of football and disappear from the public eye completely so i never had to see him again. booing such a horrible example of humanity is acceptable in any forum. in fact it should be compulsory.
