thanks Chaz, although frankly I'm not sure I have all that much to contribute. Here's a couple thoughts.

    1. E66 is right in the sense that if you have an Americna who can play he should play over a foreign player for many reasons. None of which have to do with race, and I never thought there was in racism in his post.

    2. the person who should be starting as the A-Mid is Rocha. He's the leading assist man, best passer of the current mids, and best long range shooter of the current mids. Dax should take the spot on the right in the tight diamond.

    3. BUT... Schellas is playing for the long term, not short term. So he's using guys he knows he will be using next season. Get used to Guarda in that spot.

    4. Eventually Guarda will be an excellent player IMO. He just was't and likely still isn't ready. But he does improve.

    5. I think it's obvious Dax just isn't Schellas' kind of player. Doesn't fit his system, which is a shame. I'm he'll be great for someone else next year.

I would like to discuss this but don't feel I have enough information on how either is currently playing since, well, they mostly aren't. Avila seems to have better posture on the bench, however.

Dax is definitely one of my favorite players and an absolute waste in MLS - his soccer IQ is too high to mess with the run and tackle bums he's surrounded with. Get yourself to Europe boy!

Well that's exactly one of my conspiracy theories. Maybe his agent has hinted at this, and the team has decided to invest time into players that will be around for more than one season. Not much else makes much sense.

...and so it came to pass:mad:

And next year without Cooper, Dax, possibly Rocha.

I was having a good time. It reminded me (and others who have been here for years, I am sure) of Theo and I tradeing body blows back in the day.

If you do not play favorites, Rex, I am sure retribution will soon be coming.

Not to troll or flame, Dax seems like a good prospect, but is it possible that other teams don't match the valuation that most of those on this board place on him?

It seems Morrow had a fairly high opinion of him and tried to get him on the field, but SH seems to not have as high an opinion. Even if you take away SH's love child, it doesn't seem like Dax would be in for all that much more playing time. And Nowak didn't seem to rate him as a top player with the Olympic team. He rarely saw the field, IIRC, and was second choice to a player, Sturgis, who has barely seen the field at all in the last two years. (But Sturgis was probably picked for his versatility as a squad player, rather than being better at any one position than Dax or anyone else--don't get hung up on that).

In the few times I've seen him, he seems to be a good distributor and have a very high soccer IQ (as some posters have referred to in this thread), but he seems to be lacking in the size, speed, and overall athleticism departments. There are lots of very good players in the world who I don't think are blessed with great athleticism, but I'm not sure Dax has their overall quality.

Just my two cents . . . Best of luck to you guys next year and Dax as well, wherever he is.

Dax was named as MVP for the Olympic qualifying tournament but was injured and had surgery shortly before the Olympics themselves. He was (arguably) not ready for a full 90 minutes of competitive play during the Olympics due to this injury.

All true, but the very same (and more) could be said as reasons for not picking Sturgis, the guy he replaced. But the Olympics stuff is bad example and I shouldn't have posted it.

The broader point was that I was just wondering if you guys think that anybody else values him as highly as most of you seem to.

 You didn't read the first 10 words of my previous post? It wasn't FCD fans that voted for that, so clearly someone does.

Unluckily for us, that someone is not on our coaching staff anywhere :(

I did. And it's good point. I guess I was just wondering if that was the basis of your high valuation of him.

If Dax goes, we better receive a serious allocation/ draft pick combo. Otherwise, we just continue to move backwards.

    Oh, and Ellinger sucks, btw.
