Probably a classic match already, a match people will remember in years to come, perfect advertising for the league. But the perfect example for everything that is wrong with Werder, and wrong with the league, at the same time also.

Being a Werder fan means heart attacks in every freaking match. :D

Damn, I wish I had seen this game instead of the "Grottenspiel" at AOL-Arena...

Crazy Werder!;) Congrats on another exciting win! :)

The last two Bremen league games pefercly indicate Bremen's tactical philosophy is "score more than the opponent".:p:p

Annoying defensive problems aside, this was a so called "big point" today, especially since Bayern, Schalke and Stuttgart all lost, and Hoffenheim was 2nd in the league prior to this matchday. Would have been a perfect matchday again if Hamburg hadn't won.

Winning with one man less on the pitch, after giving up a clear lead, shows that this team has heart and fighting spirit also, not just flamboyant attacking flair. This is a rare quality that we will hopefully preserve this season, then we could go all the way.

Yes I would love to see bremen or leverkusen win it all if it isn't Dortmund.

It's funny because when I was starting to follow dortmund in the early 90s those are the two teams I hated most because we'd lose to them more often than not despite being one of the best and eventually the best team in the league.

Of course, same as the last seasons but I said the last two games indicate that most perfectly.;)

ok cool. I just need to make sure they are either free to air or foreign channels, because the school here keeps track of what is downloaded and they look out for illegal movie and music downloads which the owners (ie. american companies) track you down for.

This is an excellent point, sometimes rarely seen. What's in the heart can be more important than who's on the pitch.

Now that even Wolfsburg lost against KSC (they'd be in front of us in the table if they had won), this win is even more valuable. An almost perfect matchday indeed.

Like I wrote earlier, what we now need is a run similar to last year. The next 4 tough matchdays are going to be crucial - Stuttgart away (competitor for the CL spots), Dortmund at home ('Klopp effect' finally seems to show, they totally owned Stuttgart yesterday), Hannover away (derby) and especially Leverkusen at home (on fire so far this season, very strong competitor for the CL spots). Add the very tough CL schedule to the picture (Inter Milan away, Panathinaikos away), and it's obvious that these tough upcoming weeks will shape our season.

If we want to win the league, and qualify for the second round in the CL, we really have to do well in the upcoming weeks, after our rather disappointing start both in the league and CL. While our attack finally seems to start rolling again, our defence definitely needs to be addressed. We simply won't survive in the CL defending like that, and can't always rely on scoring more than our opponent in the league either.

Meh, this was a very lucky win (not that i don´t accept such ones ;) ).
It seemed to me, that the players were already at half-time with
their minds at Inter Mailand and so a very strong Hoffenheim side
(were a bit unlucky in some scenes) came (also with help
of the referee) back into the match.

What do you think the midfield

    A) should be
    B) will be

    for the inter game?

    My wish:

    -----------Baumann--------
    --Jensen--------------Özil--
    -------------Diego----------

    Reality:
No way Frings will be benched.

Should be 2DMs, two attacking mids, most likely will be also.

    I'd play like this:

    -----Frings----Baumann-----
    -----Diego-----Özil---------

Not the diamond, but the 'square' midfield we played against Bayern also, for example. If we play the diamond, I'd choose the same players - Baumann as DM, Frings RM, Özil LM and Diego #10.

It remains to be seen if Baumann is fit though, hopefully he will be. Jensen is not fully fit yet, that's why I would not start him in such an important match yet.

    midfield should be:

    Juri, Lutscher, Diego, Mesut

then we'd have Hunt as a super-sub in case we need to produce. I think Jensen and Baumann won't be fit for 90 and so Schaaf should leave them out of the linup.

I suggest that Eisenfuß Eilts has to open the match threads, because we won our last three games with him opening the threads. :)

That's exactly why I haven't started a thread for the CL match against Inter yet. :)
