    Same thought. ;)

@LGW: If you have Premiere, you can watch the Bayern-Werder again.
They repeat it now, start of 2nd half currently.

You both hope that Fritz will have some more competition on the right back position :)

Mertesacker got a 3 match ban for his red card vs. Hoffenheim.
Total distortion of competition. This was IMHO opinion not even red,
because Pasanen was nearer to the goal. Even the Bayern touched
DSF expected at most 2 matches. Even the butcher Yahia from Bochum,
who could have ended the career of Leverkusens Dum only got
    a ban of 2 matches.

But all this doesn´t surprise me, the son of DFB president Zwanziger
    works at TSG Hoffenheim.

    btw:
    Werder protested against the decision,
but normally such protest doesn´t help.

Ridiculous decision! Hopefully, we can reduce the ban to two matches at least, this is a joke!

As written in the Hoffenheim matchday thread, the next few tough weeks are going to be crucial, and we really will need him. At least he can play in the CL.

Werder is winner of Euro 2008 ...

    ... financial-wise.

No other club in Europe got more money from UEFA,
because we had a lot of players there and they were
also sucessfull (stayed long in the tournament).

    1. Werder 1.093.732 Euro
    2. Lyon 1.039.115 Euro
    3. Bayern 1.018.109 Euro
    4. Real Madrid 962.092 Euro
    5. FC Barcelona 955.090 Euro
    6. FC Arsenal 857.060 Euro
    7. FC Chelsea 822.049 Euro
    8. FC Liverpool 710.716 Euro

    Hi, a quick question

what do you guys think of markus rosenberg as a player?

As a fan of the swedish nationalteam I´m interested to know your views of him as a player, weaknesses and strengths. I personally feel that he´s not really given the appreciation in sweden that he deserves, allthough almost no swedish players play on the same international level as he does he hardly ever gets to start in the NT.

He seems to play a lot with you guys and when hot he seems to be really good, even though he´s a bit inconsistent.

So what do you say, and thanks for playing an attacking game, even though it seems to struggle a bit this year.

Rosenberg has a good instict for chances and he is often in movement
which helps the team. Sadly he is indeed very inconsistent,
and had this season some off-days, where he missed many chances.
That´s why he currently lost his starting spot to Almeida some matches ago,
but because of Almeidas injury on Saturday, Markus´s back in the top11.

Hopefully the goal vs. Inter gives him self-confidence and maybe he can show
a good half-season like the one last spring.

That kinda is how i´ve always looked at markus (following him in Malmö before leaving for Ajax) that he was very dependent on confidence, when he was on a roll everything went his way but when he´s not given that confidence from the coach or by his own performances he becomes a lot weaker as a player. Sadly he´s never given any confidence by our NT-coach who constantly chooses other players over him, and therefor he almost never delievers when given the chance, creating a catch-22 scenario.

I also like his movement and pace.

Fuerthermore he is a fair sportsman.

He accepted the situation, that the coach chose another player
and after a Werder victory (without him) he said in an interview,
that he accepts the coachs decision, if it´s better for the team
and that he tries with good training to improve and make a comeback.

That´s an improvement to the behaviour in past (and especially to
many other players at Werder). All the best for him.

Oh, yeah, remember lads all the statements of professionalism
and good working attitude for the 2nd half of season some weeks ago?

It really seems our players stand for their words:
    - Frings seeing red in a friedly for verbal insulting the ref
    - Sanogo complains and complains of bad chances for him to start
instead of working for a chance to start
    - Müller buying steal at the highest prices in years and then wonders,
that the stadium renovations becomes expensive
    - Allofs sending Husejinovic on loan to Lautern and the player knew
about it first from press (at least it seemed so based
on the first statements of Husejinovic)

    And yesterday:
    - police stopped Diego, drunk.

Well, well, so much professionalism. I really chear for the 2nd half to start.
The players seem to have too much free-time.

Our squad has become a 'Sauhaufen', there really is no other word for it. The total lack of discipline is appaling. For this, as I wrote earlier, Schaaf and Allofs are to blame.

While it doesn't look like any major changes are going to happen in the winter break, we definitely need to do that this summer, otherwise things are going to get very ugly. It would be much easier and smarter to begin with that now, but it doesn't look like it.

We need to build a new team.

Our squad has become far too arrogant during the last year, which I believe is the main reason for the lack of discipline.

Frings and Diego have been pissing me off the whole season with all their media affairs. Diego flirting around with Sarah Connor and not focussing on the game, being indiscipline on the pitch or Frings arguing with and even undermining Löw´s authority.

I remember a Doppelpass episode in which people stated that Bayern is no longer the so-called "FC Hollywood" but Werder Bremen.
I must admit, sadly as this is, it´s true.

    In all honesty, after seeing:

    1. Diego pick up careless yellows in the Champions League, causing him to be suspended for the group stage do-or-die match....for the SECOND consecutive year

    2. him pull his idiotic stunt against Karlsruhe getting a 3-game suspension (including the rückrunde game in schalke  )

    3. Werder go on to win the big CL match as huge underdogs (again, for the second consecutive year) and also the final game of the 1st half, both without him on the field

I'd been seriously hoping to see Diego be sold during the break. After this last incident with the police and his "one glass of wine" (according to his statements in the latest kicker article...sure dude, we believe you), it's obvious this guy is becoming a cancer to the team, and isn't reliable on any level - on the field or off it.

I think it's time to take the €20-25M and run. Let Juve deal with him. While Diego is certainly the most talented player on the team and one of the most talented in the Bundesliga, his BS, temper and inconsistency has really started to be a negative drag on the team, and selling him would be a case of addition by subtraction.

And while Özil certainly isn't yet up to the level of Diego yet, the guy's fantastic performances while filling the suspended Brazilian's shoes against both Inter and Bielefeld definitely show he's good enough to handle a central role in the team's attack now. Considering all of the exterior baggage with Diego, I'd say that I've got as much confidence in a Werder team with Özil at the helm as I do in one with the Brazilian munchkin.

Unfortunately, I guess it will have to wait until the summer window since there hasn't been a single peep about any teams interested in Diego. Why would any team want to spend €20-25 on a headcase who is already cup-tied in Europe for the rest of the season? Let's hope he keeps his value through July 1.

It's sad because I use to be a huge fan of the player....

€20-25m? No friggin way. We should not start negotiations unless €30m are on the table at least. Hopefully, Man City will show interest in signing him, would make sense in many ways for them (Diego instead of Kaka; Diego and Robinho are good friends since the Santos days, and Robinho apparently feels lonely in Manchester, and 'demands' Brazilians to be signed).

If it's Man City who are interested in buying, then just double the figure I wrote in my post. :D

F*ck, Christian Vander got a cruciate ligament rupture in yesterdays match.

If Wiese doesn´t get fit soon, either Sebastian Mielitz or Nico Pellatz have to stand between the posts in the DFB cup at Wolfsburg.

Yeah, just posted it in the Bayern matchday thread. Awful stuff, as if the Wolfsburg match isn't difficult enough already...

Poor Vander, really would have deserved more games after the great match yesterday.

This is just unbelievable. Why do we need for every step ahead to be sent two behind?
I'm just waiting for august 2009 and the new season. I'm getting the feeling this one is doomed.

Does anyone now the status of Fabrice Begeorgi?

I know he is currently loaned from OM and playing for the reserves, but is that just for experience or is he one Bremen are looking at for the future?

He is at us to strengthen the reserve and prevent them from relegation.
If he does well, Werder will negotiate with Marseille.

Way to pull this thread out of the attic Eisenfuss. Never seen it before and there's alot of history here if you read through it...thanx! Oh yeah, the Naldo injury sux but thank goodness it's minor as I don't fancy Prodl at all. I hope Wiese and Mertes can cover up his mistakes or the offense just keeps scoring too much to care. Look at the bright side...after the Demichelis injury we have a better defence than Bayern !

    C/P INJURY NEWS

    Demichelis blow for Bayern
    August 6, 2009

Bayern Munich will be without central defender Martin Demichelis for up to two months after he damaged ankle ligaments in training. The Argentinian tore ligaments in his right ankle in an innocuous challenge in training and will need an operation next week, followed by six or seven weeks of rest.
Bayern coach Louis van Gaal therefore only has three central defenders to choose from for his side's first Bundesliga match of the season at Hoffenheim on Saturday.
Youngsters Holger Badstuber and Breno are vying for a position alongside Daniel van Buyten for the first two months of the season.
"The length of this injury break is obviously bitter," said Bayern's director of sport Christian Nerlinger on the club's website.
"Martin has trained very intensely and played in the starting XI against Neckarelz.
"Let's just hope that the healing process goes perfectly and we can have him back as soon as possible."
