Well, there's a section of empty seats between the rangers support and the Celtic support. Aside from that there didn't appear to be too many empty today. I suppose if there were, it was because Celtic were playing an increasingly irrelevant opponent. Which is why the scoreline is all the more shameful.
enjoy it. you're one game wonders. congratulations. while you bask in an, admitedly, what was a deserved victory i'll be thinking about 4-in-a-row and the champions league matches. thought Wilson, although at fault at the first goal, had a decent match as did Samaras and Nakamura. we lost today, would obviously much rather have seen us won but life goes on. some so called 'Celtic fans' who are faithful through and through need to have a long hard look at themselves tonight and tomorrow. easy to sing it, harder when it needs something... p.s. i'm pissed. do not ask me how long it took to correct spelling errors...
That's pretty understandable. Did you attend the game? Fortunately I didn't watch the Old Firm this time (I was in Frankfurt and arrived only in the late afternoon) ... but I was pretty shocked when I saw the result. Did we really play that badly? Well, the defence is still our weak point ... so it's gonna be tough to defend the title this season (especially, since the Rangers can fully concentrate on the SPL)! Simply don't understand why we didn't sign a quality LB & CB... PS: Shame on you, dear Kenny Miller! )
Hello guys, shame about yesterday, but i just HAVE to point out to all our visiting rival posters who are, obviously within their right, milking it. Remember what happened last season, this time you won't have the european stage to use an excuse. __________ Simple facts of the game, brought to you by yours truely. Boruc: Obviously not in the right frame of mind, i think it's this whole Poland/Media thing but again i admit, if anyone should be able to handle that it would be the Holy Goalie but, he didn't seem with it. Hopefully he gets his s**t together soon enough. Wilson: obviously at fault for losing Cousin, got turned too easily and then was out paced at the back, does well attacking and played a consistent game but as a Make shift Left Back, he's going to have to get that sorted and not let that slip again. Hinkel: I thought he was useless, i think we needed Caddis on to attack more and support Nakamura, when ever he got the ball he went back, to the closest person too him our a lousy ball in. Sometimes he did a run, but over all he isn't giving us much width like Caddis did or Wilson did when attacking. Big Jan: Such a tit for getting sent off after Cousin was sent packing, in my opinion we should never have taken off Samaras anyways, yet another bad decision. _____ After that, whats been said and done is now in the past. Hopefully we start using some of the new boys as its the same old story, we lack some pace at times in defence (Loovens and Caddis, need a game and now.) Maloney and Samaras need to start more games to get up to scratch after big jan's daft action and scotty being out injured hopefully they will the next few games and maybe give hutchinson a run out sometime this year. Also, chuck in Koki give the boy the chance to shine.
This message is really surprising then. http://www.kicker.de/news/fussball/nationalelf/startseite/artikel/382488/ Btw: Artur has to be blamed for the Rangers goals nr. 1 (together with Wilson) and 4 ... but the other 2 goals we conceded, were admittedly really impressive!
agreed ... he shouldn't have gotten beat short-sided like that on goal #1, and he's gotta keep his hands on the ball and not lose control, especially to the feet of miller on goal #4. however, with miller's first and mendes' cannon of a shot, boruc had no chance. and lookng at celtic's goals ... samaras kept a level head and didn't rush anything when he scored. could've easily paniced and gotten under the ball, or whiffed on it altogether. i <3 samaras. and once again naka impresses the hell out of me with his free kicks. even if it didn't glance of the head of the 'gers player, that ball was going in. i still can't understand why JVoH got a straight red though.
I think were going to get shreaded on the wings in the CL. Can't beleive nothing was done about defence this offseason even thogh it has been a galring issue going on four seasons now.
been working away since Monday morning so have had limited internet access. it would seem that Mr Lawell has pulled the wool over many supporters eyes. i'm happy that we've reduced debt significantly, to the point where we are only £3mill in debt now but a football team standing still is the same as a football team in decline. it always needs strengthening and as celtic76 has already mentioned LB was a glaring issue that needed to be addressed and wasn't. are we to believe that our scouting network couldn't find a better LB in the whole of Europe that was better than Lee Naylor? that's a very tough one to swallow. still, this squad now needs to carry us through until January at least. time to get behind them one and all.
Don't rate Loovens myself but only time will tell. Personally I think the only reason we grabed him was to have a one over on Rangers. Same as most of the signings that have been brought in from the spl outside of Robson and Wilson. The fact that not one left back was brought in mind you we should have signed a minumm two possiably three as there seems to be pit back there.
Finally got a chance to watch the entire match. It was my first OF match that I could see completely. Rangers clearly were so hungry and aggressive. The first half was pretty even. I have never seen Boruc look so awful. Mendes goal was 1 in a million. Miller...lol, never rated him at Celtic and still don't think he is all that at RFC. 3 Main points about this match: -wake-up call for Celtic. -maybe Rangers aren't that awful. -maybe Celtic aren't as dominant as many thought. In the end, this is only ONE match out of a season, and the first of FOUR OF matches.
because it was an old firm game...the ref must be an orangeman or mason right? In all seriousness, the ref has to show Vinegar of Castlemilk a straight red there...he lashed out with a kick at an opposition player in a powderkeg Old Firm game...As well as Cousin getting Yellow carded for winning balls in the air and coming down on Wilson and Caldwell c'mon now...grasping at straws mate.
Hesselink came on the pitch with the wrong attitude. he had been sniping away at McGregor while he was warming up. it was total stupidity and GS had better have hit him hard in his pocket for it. of course, with it being violent conduct it means the suspension counts for every competition, including the CL. not sure if it carries on to internationals as well though. hopefully it does, and he'll think twice about it the next time.
Motherwell v Celtic - Saturday 13th September - 12:30pm KO - Fir Park after the Glasgow derby debacle its anyone's guess as to how we'll line up tomorrow. Boruc had a stinker and will hopefully redeem himself between the sticks tomorrow. McManus is struggling for form big time at the minute. but will our manager drop his captain and give Loovens a chance to partner Caldwell? is Naylor, the only true left back we have, worth bringing back into the team? should Caddis be given the nod over Hinkel so soon into the new season? decisions decisions. and thats only the back four... surely Robson must be recalled to central midfield but who partners him? Hartley? Brown? will Donati earn his first start of the season? has Crosas, who has continued to impress in training, done enough to warrant a spot? Naka never has the best of games at Fir Park so will he make way for Maloney to drop to a wide role. or will Robson or Brown move out there if our Japanese Bhoy isn't selected? will Aiden burst out of his mini-slump? no Hesselink due to suspension but Skippy could start against his former club. will Hutchinson feature in the starting line-up? doubtful. i think Skippy and Samaras will be the front pairing if Maloney is moved to a wide area. but then that depends on whether Naka starts or not. no matter what team GS fields this is a big game. we need to bounce back from last weeks defeat and this will be a very tough game against a Motherwell team who have had plenty of time to prepare themselves for the visit of the champions. come on the bhoys! Celtic: (from) Boruc, Hinkel, Wilson, McManus, Caldwell, Hartley, Nakamura, McGeady, Robson, S Brown, McDonald, Samaras, Maloney, M Brown, O'Dea, Naylor, Loovens, Crosas.
Aye, this is a surprisingly big match for so early in the season. Hopefully Boruc has his head straightened out for this one. Skippy will definitely get some time (playing against former club), but he'll probably either come in as an early sub or start and go out for one. I'd like to see Robson start in Naka's spot and Crosas get some meaningful time. There is about 15,000 ways WGS could go with the back four, so it'll be a big surprise for everyone tomorrow. Gonna have to break out the lucky hoops....
team - GK: Boruc LB: Naylor RB: Wilson CB: Caldwell CB: McManus RM: Maloney LM: Robson CM: Crosas CM: Brown CF: Samaras CF: McDonald Substitutes - 21 Brown, 46 McGeady, 25 Nakamura, 22 Loovens, 18 Donati, 52 Caddis, 26 Sheridan Hartley, Nakamura, McGeady and Hinkel all out from last match. looking forward to seeing Crosas play.
