I am too sentimental to write anything meaningful about this topic.:(:(
    Thanks for the memories Olli!

This whole over the top staging of his career end had one goal: making money. ZDF paid 3 million to be allowed to air the show and I don't know how much they got from the commercials etc.. But making money is not supposed to be the primary goal of the ZDF. And it certainly shouldn't be their goal to boost Bayern's and Kahn's revenues.
Sure, Kahn had a great career and all but so did many others who's good-bye match wasn't on ARD/ZDF - or who didn't get one in the first place.

In general one has to question the role of the public-law broadcasting station and it's TV channels in Germany. Based on the law their role is to provide the german people with a certain amount of cultural, educational and informational services. It's called "Grundversorgung".

That doesn't include airing Bayerns DFB-Cup matches in 9 out of 10 times. (And until this season give Bayern a nice paycheck for that each time). It also doesn't mean to fly Johannes B. Kerner from Beijing (Olympics) to Nürnberg (meaningless and dull friendly) and back within 48 hours. And it certainly doesn't mean to start the Middle American trend of Telenovelas in Germany by producing "Bianca - Wege zum Glück".
At the same time Hamburgs first round UEFA Cup match probably won't be on TV at all. Werders UEFA Cup quartifinal match @ Glasgow Rangers last season? Not on TV in Germany. Shouldn't ARD/ZDF step in in those cases?

It's simple: the GEZ money is being misused. Yesterdays show was a perfect example for that. That's why I'm not paying it.

GTFO Lebenslang. Go troll in the German tv thread instead of stinking up the King Kahn tribute discussion.

Capitalism is a wonderful thing. Maybe when Germany realizes that again the economy there will return to its once prosperous state.

except that zdf is a public broadcaster .

the whole thing was pretty lame, especially time to say goodbye.

come on , this isn't an end of a casting show .

I knew it would get rather cheesy, so I switched off right before Kahn's "time to say goodbye" had come.

Only those who actually understand what I wrote are supposed to comment on it. Some do and some don't.

I understood exactly what you wrote, but that does not change the fact that it did not belong in this thread.

Oh so you just got all upset about formalities then. If that's the case I'm sorry for what I did.
