    Selección EEUU.
    Jozy Altidore
    Partidos: 06/09 – Cuba - EEUU (Havana)
    10/09 – EEUU - Trinidad & Tobago

looks like Jozy is getting called up for the next 2 qualifiers.

    Rosters haven't been named.

Not only that, I hope he doesn't get called up. Villarreal needs him with Rossi and Nihat being out. There's no better chance for him to play.

And you do realize that they don't play on Fifa dates. Jozy (and 9 other internationals) would miss no more than 5 days of trainin, this is pretty normal outside of MLS.

Good point -- maybe I'm just used to MLS :) Strange that La Liga kicks off this weekend, then has a two week break. That's just how it works out, I suppose...

I never had noticed the noticias generales before...

Jozy is not going anywhere. It's not like villa is loaded with young and healthy stud strikers.

Man, I thought they'd at least hang on to him until January with their current striker situation being as it is. It'd be a good time to force your way into the squad.

Yeah, don't believe it. The only healthy strikers they have in the squad right now are Franco, Llorente, and Altidore. Altidore should at least see a sub role in their first game, if he's not starting. He's not going anywhere for now...not with Nihat down for a few more months and with Rossi's status up in the air after this week.

Weeks is still weeks. They would only have a couple of days to ship off Jozy, and then they would only have two true strikers available for at least a couple weeks. Can't see them doing that.

Some publications say weeks, some say months. I think saying weeks is a little bit hopeful, but I'm not a doctor. The good news is that Villarreal's season doesn't start too vigorously. Rossi and Nihat both need to rest up and not rush their injuries - both could easily linger on and cause problems later (like Altidore's ankle).

The first matchday is next Sunday (8/31).
The second matchday is Sep 14.
CL starts on Sep 16 (17).

A couple of weeks could be enough to miss just one game.

Does that mean Jozy refused to sign, or Villa decided not to loan him out?

Actually...I think it has something to do with Valladolid's roster. Too many "foreigners", at this point, although one player, Marcos Aguirre, may be Euro (Italian). Those questions are still being answered, but they won't be in time to get Jozy.

So, it's a moot point -- even if the clubs wanted to, they couldn't, it seems.

Really, how often do you say either one of these words in English or Spanish?
