The agent for Toronto FC right back Marvell Wynne has confirmed that the U.S. Olympic standout has received some late interest from European clubs.

Wynn to Aston Villa For Roof over stands! :p LOL!

Transfer him for around 3 million, Toronto should get at least a million of salary cap space with the Wynne and Edu transfers for next season.

Honestly, Marvell is nowhere near Premier League ready... He's fast, but he's technically weak and not a particularily good defender (his speed makes up for his lack of positioning and field vision)... So, if they sign him for another 5 mil, then go nuts... but it would be better for him to still develop his game here for a couple more years...

Excuse me??? Have you seen Micah Richards play for Manchester City?

A fantastic athlete who is tough as nails (like Wynne) but has the touch of a brick wall. Both players can perform the specific roles asked of them very well, going outside there technical zone is what creates issues for them.

The list can go a lot longer.....

Marvell Wynne would not be out of his depth in the EPL especially. The high paced direct English style of play would probably work to his benefit. Tactically and technically he is much more likely to get exposed in Spain, or Italy.

I doubt he'd get a work permit to join Villa, who recently bought Luke Young. I think this action is from continental Europe.

Clowns in the EPL make more in one year than many would make in their entire life.

So Edu gets us grass, does Wynne get us a roof for the stands? :D

  14. Don't hold your breath on Edu for grass. Just a PR stunt so they appear to be doing something about it, in my opinion. I'd take the money and run where Wynne is concerned.

I do like the fact that a lot of the transfer money has to go to development, whether MLSE likes it or not. I think that this will pay dividends in the future... not only for TFC but for the national team as well...

I'm not saying that Wynne can't cut it in the EPL, I just think that he should spend one more full season here, develop his game a little more and then get an even bigger contract... Upside is upside so why sell him for a couple of million now when you may be able to sell him next year for more...

I love the guy. He gives you 100% game in and game out. Yes, he still has to work on his touch but I think a move to Europe would certainly benefit the man's career. Unfortunately the down side is that we lose a fantastic presence on the pitch and a fantastic role model as well.

    Too funny!

And a note about a future grass field at BMO...at the old exhibition stadium the grass field was always in terrible shape...year after year they never could get a good grass field growing down there...so when we do get grass they better figure it out IMHO.
