O.O o.o (My favorite smilie link is down so I can't respond with the appropriate graphic. You're just going to have to use your imagination.)
i know which one you are talking about... yea it is no good since i work in retail... so really there is nothing i can do about it. oh well... last time they had me in a boot for a few weeks... i am not sure it ever really healed. OH WELL! They showed the medal ceremony for soccer and The ladies dropping their cleats on home base.
I know!! I have loads and loads of creativity!! I have to tell you, not ever I had used screen shots and paint so FAST on my life
If we're sharing a brain, you are really hungover right now.... Sorry, about that. I still haven't brought myself to comment directly about the game. It was just to intense.
I used to want to see the other team cry, but I think I've seen far too many of my athletes in that same position to take any pleasure in that now. In fact, I saw it with some of the softball players prior to the soccer game. It is, however, way worse when I'm actually on the field with them.
Not since 7:29am CST. My Big Gulp of Smirnoff Ice was empty early in the second half. I kept having to go into the garage to fill it (the sound of bottles opening at 9:30am might raise some eyebrows). This match was so stressful, I don't even remember Brandi saying "absolutely" or mentioning the importance of "the first 5 minutes..." once. I just kept drinking to calm my nerves more than anything. I still can't believe they won. Not because I didn't believe they were capable. It's just that after the first 25 minutes they seemed to have no possession. They gave up 14 corners!?! There was never time to breath (or to pee for that matter). It just seemed like Brazil had the ball forever, and they could score at any minute. But man this team is scrappy. And I'm very happy for Hope Solo. She needed to have the game of her life. Her team needed her to have the game of her life. She made the Brazilians cry (with a help from her teammates). Never have I enjoyed the agony of defeat more.
That victory today by the USWNT was the United States' 1,000th gold medal in the history of the modern Games. And it had a Philly/Delaware Valley connection all over it; Solo and Mitts, who played the games of their careers today, and Pia Sundhage, all Charge alumni...Carli Lloyd, from Delran, New Jersey, scoring the championship-winner - and redemption for Solo. Wonder how Wambach feels right now, since she was in lockstep with Ryan on blackballing Solo after the world cup semifinal. I know I just stepped on a landmine with that comment, but I consider Abby an accessory to the hell that Solo went through. Like CNNSI's Grant Wahl said, "What was the rationale that former U.S. coach Greg Ryan had used for his benching of Solo last year? Oh, that's right: that she wasn't that good when it came to making reflex saves against a team like Brazil." 72nd minute. Marta, meet Solo.
That totally explains what is wrong with me today. Next next time I get to do the drinking and you get to do the hungover, OK? (Seriously, I have been feeling like crap all day and if I didn't know better I would have said I was totally hungover. I was blaming le tired instead.)
As I said over in the post-game thread: This game proves nothing and says nothing about WWC '07. All this game proves is that Hope had what it took today, just like Bri had what it took so many times before. What you do in one match won't win you other matches. That's why they play the game.
She's not blonde anymore. It's all brunette. Still long, but all brunette now. It's just......weird. If she was wearing a khaki shirt, she would almost look like Mrs. Croc Hunter.
Oh yeah, she's been brunette for a while now. I thought you meant that she cut her hair really weird or something.
I finished watching the medal ceremony and I just flashed back to the absolute opposite of happiness this team was at a year ago. That's what triggered the Wambach stuff. Enough focusing on the past by me. We won. The team won. That's what counts.
