Actually, as much as this sucked for the U.S., this was probably the best possible result of this game to get softball back into the Olympics. I know we wanted to see the U.S. women take gold, but I personally would prefer to see generations upon generations have the opportunity to compete for gold, rather than have this team win it and put the final nail in softball's coffin due to "U.S. dominance".

So dry your eyes, and send a thank you card to Japan because they may have just saved softball's collective ass. The game now has golden proof that it's competitive at this level.

Also, have I mentioned that I think Yukiko Ueno is a badass?

In other news, Solo just caught something. Granted it was on the ground so she didn't ahve too much of a choice, but I just wanted to let you know that yes, I do notice that she does catch some things.

Equesterian I can see. Goes along with the military themed events that the Olympics are anchored in. What I can't see: trampoline, rhythmic gymnastics, BMX bicycle racing (go back to the X Games!), and synchro diving (we get that with Brazillian soccer anyway. Why have a duplicate?)
