You keep saying that as if that means that everything NBC touches is supposed to be a free network available to all regardless of circumstance.

Sorry, it's not. NBC is a free network. Enjoy. If you PAID for the all-soccer channel, you should get it. Sorry that you can't. Sorry that not everybody can. Oh, well. Free beer, frosted mug, repeat.

Maybe in 2012 everybody will have HD and it won't be an issue.

No I expect that in 2012 all the cool kids will be watching in life-size, 3-D, HD generated by their cell phones, and that will be the only way to get the NBC (or whomever's) Olympic all soccer channel. It is however a small consolation to me that by then I may have HD. ;>)

More seriously I felt ripped off when I found out that Dish Network 250 channel subscribers w/o HD weren't worthy for the soccer channel but so far I've watched all that I have time for (and then some) live, on TIVO or on the interweb.

I have Dish and the HD box I have feeds the HD TV and the Standard def TV. I can watch the HD feed on either TV and it Looks good on the standard def TV

HD by nature, can display on any tv so long as the display is set for the correct tv. IE Widescreen or standard. it does not need to down convert.

BTW - The standard Tv i am using is less than 3 years old so it is getting digital input, not analog

    Match 19
    USA-CAN
    6:00 a.m. ET

    Match 20
    BRA-NOR
    6:00 a.m. ET

    Match 21
    SWE-GER
    9:00 a.m. ET

    Match 22
    CHN-JPN
    9:00 a.m. ET

My best guess is this: USA will show a 6:00 a.m. match live, probably the USA-CAN match.

-- MSNBC doesn’t say their soccer match will be live, so I don’t know if it will be a tape delay of the 6:00 match OR if it will be a live match at 9:00.

-- Telemundo says their women’s coverage will be live, but the broadcast doesn’t start until 8:00 ... Hmmmm. So, either it will be tape delayed OR their showing time is wrong.

Someone may very well know the answer to this, but I haven't found anything concrete as of yet. It's all very confusing.

My comcast local schedule (Portland) shows the USA game on the USA channel. The other game will be on MSNBC and Telemundo, according to them.

Thanks but the problem for Dish Network subscribers is not hardware it is Dish Network only providing the channel to HD subscribers, which you apparently are and I'm not. ;>( But again thanks ... good information to have.

WHAT are you saying?? You are contradicting youself by saying "NBC is free network" but you also say "Sorry, it's not". LOL! Make up your mind!

NBC IS a free over the air network. They had the choice to offer their soccer/basketball channels in standard def as well but they didn't. They are total idiots to fail to realize that at least half the country doesn't have HD and a lot of people don't want.

I talked to a guy at the CABLE company in the TECH department and even HE doesn't have HD TV. LOL!

The only bad thing about the coverage, be it HD or SD, is that we have to listen to the ramblings of Brandy Chastain! At one point today she talked for 5 minutes straight and said nothing. She may be an explayer but sucks as an analyst

At first, I liked her. She didn't seem to bombard us with stories of what happened when she was on the team. Then, she got a little too "analyistic" if that's word. As interesting as soccer is, during a match, I don't need to know the 75 other options so and so should've done instead of what she really did and then hear about those 75 other options for the rest of the game.

She knows an insane amount about soccer and if she would just stop trying to give us all a lifetime worth of knowledge in 90 minutes of soccer, she would be great! But maybe that's just me. :D

For those dopes like myself that messed up on the recording....NBColympics.com has the entire 4:23:02 of the US/Canada Quarterfinal archived!

As an added bonus...you don't have to listen to bitter Brandi Chastain!:D

WHAT is wrong with Chastain's commentary?? Why do you think she's bitter? She speaks great and her recounting of her experiences can be very interesting. She is certainly better than hearing Paul Dellacamera who seems to do every soccer game in U.S. history! LOL!

It's interesting to hear her and Kristine Lily. It's always good to hear a players perspective. Is Lily pregnant?

I can agree, I too liked her at the start. A great change from Foudy. Personally, I would like to have less commentary and have the PBP type id player with the ball a la most of the EPL guys. The majority of the analysts on FSC and Setanta don't normally ramble  on either.

Who would you rather have JP Dellacamera or Max Bretos? JP is the voice of the USWNT. I too would prefer the announcing team that is doing the NON USA matches.

Lilly had a daughter in July.

TV Coverage - Womens Semifinals -

Brazil vs Germany - 6:00 am ET -
LIVE on MSNBC/NBC Soccer Channel. No coverage on Telemundo?

United States vs Japan - 9:00 am ET -
    LIVE on MSNBC/Universal HD/NBC Soccer Channel/Telemundo

Not sure about Telemundo on the Brazil-Germany game.
Their morning coverage goes from 2:00 am ET to 6:00 am ET then
theres a two hour break before it resumes at 8:00 am ET and goes
to 12:00 pm ET. So yes, they are scheduled to take a break from their
Olympic coverage when the Brazil-Germany game is being played.
I would think they would interrupt what is being shown and show
something important like a soccer game featuring Brazil.
