Montero was a bit scary in the back. Miccoli didn't impress me much either. It was nice to see Trezeguet get a couple.

A local channel here in DC (WNVC) usually shows a match on tape-delay every sunday afternoon. It was scheduled to be Juve-Empoli today but instead there was some sort of Chinese news show. Bummer. I'm worried that calcio has been dropped from the schedule this year.

Well it's not channel 98 on my cable system (comcast) but yeah, mhz. I sent an email to the programming director to find out more info. That would be a real bummer. I can always go to watch it at Summer's but it's simpler (and cheaper) to watch it at home.

A few interesting notes about the opener...

Pavel Nedved played his 200th Serie A match.

Juve has not lost an opener since the 82-83 season. 21 years, 15 wins and 6 ties.

Del Piero scored on opening day for the fourth year in a row.

i get comcast too..... but do you really think they listen to the customer? like since when have they ever done that? but yea, it would be nice. I heard there were a few players in DC where you can watch games.

They probably won't listen but I have to try. Summer's in Arlington shows all kinds of matches and normally has 2-3 Italian games every weekend. It's pretty close to me so I really shouldn't complain but...my apartment is so much more comfortable! ;)

Miccoli was rushed to the hospital soon after the game. Acute appendicitis .....so hes going to be out for 3-4 weeks....which means he will miss Italy's game vs Wales and the CL opener vs Galatasaray.

Believe it or not, I got this reply from WNVC today...

    "Dear Mr. Rueter,

    Thank you for your email.

The Italian Soccer Serie A game of the week will premiere Monday, September 15th at 12 noon and will broadcast each Monday thereafter.

Thank you for watching MHz NETWORKS."

It's better than nothing I guess but it will be difficult to keep from finding out the score for that long.
