I noticed that when both Stewart and Convey are both on the pitch, making runs forward, the two are dangerous as hell. That tandem was starting to really open the field up. Now with Cerritos, we have options we didn't have before. Now we have more than one guy taking it up field and more than one option to cross to. Stewart brings leadership that we'll need next year. I'm gonna give it more time. Stewart is not a washed up player. He may be in a slump, but not washed up.

I think most of Earnie's problems are in his head. In other words, he just needs to relax and play more comfortably, play within himself. He can still contribute.

of course i am. it is not uncommon at all that players, seasoned veterans often take 20+ matches to really settle at a new team, there is a long list of players to whom this applies. and of course some--for example Gheorg Hagi when he first went to madrid and brescia he struggled the first year yet bounced back the next year to be a leader in points on the team (playing about the same number of games each year) world football abounds with transfers who display a slow start at a club.

it think it would be foolish to not take this into consideration.

Agree 100%. I was getting ready to post a similar thought, but you beat me to it. And you said it better than I would have.

.......and with all your heart you believe this is Earnie's case !!!

I do not believe soo, he did not show any little tiny bitt of greatness as a soccer pro. I cannot tell you how big my disappointment with him really is.

    Earnie is not Pele.

    Earnie is not even Ronaldo.

    Nobody said he was.

Is that what you consider greatness? I think everyone would agree with you.

But soccer is a team sport.

Even Real Madrid & Brazil struggle when they don't have tireless workers. Real Madrid notoriously starts off very slowly (last year they were middle of the pack at the midway of the season, that is the norm and not the exception). Brazil has also struggled early in WC qualifiers, until they realize that they have too many superstars and nobody to do the dirty work.

That said, I truly believe it was a mistake to play Earnie up top. Sure he could play up top, but the adjustment period was going to be too long and there is not enough patience here in the nation's capital! ;)

He is now settling down in the midfield. I honestly think he will be a force to be reckoned with in the playoffs.

2 beautiful goals tonight against El Salvador.

What's that, 3 goals in his last 4 games from midfield?

Maybe what Red&Black said is right? Imagine that.

I am sticking with my theory that he got confused and thought he was playing with the USMNS tonight. Similiar uniforms and playing against another countries national team, one could see why he got confused and finally decided to produce tonight.

Yeah, a lot of us made the same joke at the beginning of the game too.

If that's the case, maybe we should just hypnotize him in the locker before the games telling him that each game is a different Central American team.

Thank you, Earnie Stewart, for at least giving me the hope that you can do this when not playing for the national team. Now do it in a real game.
