chalupa update: http://www.ussoccer.com/articles/viewArticle.jsp_8683521.html maybe they should give solo a new nickname "rocky" lol
And then, because no one wanted Hope and Kate to feel bad all by themselves, I guess everyone thought they’d make some bad decisions and the team engaged in a collective panic and reverted to the long ball, skill-less, selfish, unable to connect a pass team of the Ryan era. Nothing is more indicative of this team completely losing it’s poise than the fact that they were playing the ball over the midfield to a forward who wasn’t even in the country at the time wow... if it wasn't that serious I'd be laughing...
Read Beulah report. Good stuff, that is to say I disagree with a few of her major points, especially re: Heath. She's ready now and this will really help develop her game.
This is Brazil's tournament to lose. Brazil was really the best team in the last two major tournaments - they outplayed their opponents in both finals, but also managed to lose both games. I think they're not only the best team again, but they s/b mentally prepared to win this time. After Brazil, I think Germany is the next best team and most likely to earn the silver. The bronze is up for grabs. I would have given the USA the odds before Abby going down but now I think the USA is on the outside looking in. Maybe it's time for NK to step onto the podium.
Argh. I keep getting this message: Video is currently supported on the following browsers: * Internet Explorer 6, 7 for Windows (Vista, XP SP2 or greater and 2003) * Firefox 1.5, 2, 3 for Windows (Vista, XP SP2 or greater and 2003) * Firefox 1.5, 2, 3 for Mac (OS 10.4.8 or greater, Intel only) * Safari 2 & 3 for Mac (OS 10.4.8 or greater, Intel only) Yet I'm running OS 10.4.11 with Safari 3.1.2 and Firefox 2.0.0.16 on an Intel Mac. So what gives? ... Color me confused.
Have you downloaded and installed Silverlight as of yet? Once I installed that, I didn't have any problems with their video coverage. http://www.microsoft.com/silverlight/ Select install on that page. Once it's all done, you should be able to review archived games and watch the live feeds with no problem at all.
Another thing that might not be immediately clear. I had to install Silverlight for each browser I used (Firefox 3.xx and Safari 3.xx on an intel mac) with the browser i wanted the plugin for. Then restart the browser.

Re: Olympic TV Schedule Let the smack talking begin. Looks like Canada is taking a page from the french swimming relay team. Here are some nice quotes from them. "I think we have them at a pretty good time," Sinclair said. "Obviously, it would be ideal to knock them out of the Olympics and not allow them to have a chance at winning a medal" It's the way our team has been playing recently,” said Lang. “I think we're even a better team than we were the last two times we played them and they aren't as good a team as they were then.” “We've been getting closer and closer,” said Sinclair. “And there's the injuries they suffered. When I first started with the team they were beating us 6-0 every single time. Now we're playing the best we've ever played for Even. This is the time to play them.” http://www.canada.com/calgaryherald/news/story.html?id=ad0639e3-dfc4-401c-9491-d958fed2b289 http://www.canada.com/ottawacitizen....html?id=10f049f6-1c76-4530-ae87-3a012f02b669 http://torontosun.com/Sports/Beijing2008/2008/08/13/6435771.html Fortunantly the US has their head in the right place. Chups comment “It's going to be a battle,” said defender Lori Chalupny. “We have a good feeling for them and familiarity with them but it's always a battle. The last couple games have been one goal games. So we'll be prepared and excited for that game,” she added. “I've been part of the team for a couple of years and I feel like I played them so much. We know how they play and we know they have a strong team with some really good players.”
Re: Olympic TV Schedule I thought that is where I put it . Im telling you man, this lack of sleep thanks to beijing being so dang far from me is starting to impair my already diminished mental capacity.
Re: Olympic TV Schedule Lang better be careful. Her college coach is sitting on the other side bench.
Re: Olympic TV Schedule These are vulnerable times for our weary American neighbours. In the economy - and on the soccer pitch. Sure, the U.S. woman's soccer team is ranked No. 1 on the planet. But, with all due respect, the ninth-ranked Canadians sense weakness in their southern rivals Oh no!! not the economy!! With all due respect... counting eggs before they hatch.. *wispers* there is a reason why they are #9....

Another Hucles trade story: http://www.nj.com/olympics/index.ssf/2008/08/reunited_with_coach_who_dealt.html "...Hucles, the University of Virginia star, was a member of the 2004 Olympic gold-medal team, but she never played in the final. She was on the field only 34 minutes during that Olympiad. So what has made her a different player? Fitness. She found a trainer in Boston, where she is living, and for the past five years has been improving her stamina...." I find interesting is that this the third player with comments about problems of fitness since Pia took over (Kai and Cat Whitehill the others). Just a few players or something about Ryan?
