DISCLAIMER: This comes courtesy of the Highly Unreliable MLS Rumors. Ok, my gut reaction is that this is highly questionable. Obviously, no officials saw this behavior or cards would have been shown. Next, uhhh, why in the hell would a Canadian be flipping off Canadians? I believe this is bullshit. I guess we'll just have to wait for the youtube clip... I can't imagine Serioux would have any problem with the "Eff You Serioux" chants up there. This is bogus and without merit.
Don't worry. He'll get a $100 fine.. Chris Albright threw a full water bottle at fans in the Cotton Bowl, hit a young girl, spilled water all over her and still only got a 100 buck fine....Well, maybe he was or is a little bit more popular than Ser..
Umm yeah, I was talking about the Serioux article... And I could care less what Chris Albright did 4+ years ago and doubt it would play into any decision by the league on a similar incident these days. For one, it appears the minimum fine has increased to $250 (I know, still not a lot of money). And two, given the increased exposure and scrutiny in recent years, I think MLS has increased the penalties for off-the-ball incidents and are less likely to sweep things under as often as they used to.
I guess you only used the word "serious" because its a play off of his name, right? Because if its true I doubt he's in any real trouble. When I read the title I thought you meant he got wasted and crashed his C-Class into the Frisco Whataburger.
Which would probably only improve the aesthetic appeal of the place. The Serioux/Serious lame wordplay was part of the original MLS Rumors headline.
Hence the disclaimer at the top of my thread-starter. Although if you read the comments on on the MLS Rumors blog, there sure are lots of people who claim to have personally witnessed the alleged act. Of course, they also claim to have seen Elvis, Sasquatch, the location of the faked moon landing, the loch ness monster and texgator with a girl.
Hmm... Must be brand new. The Google map can't even list a precise location, and that location is also not on the Whataburger website.
This Serioux getting a fine or not topic isn't too involving to me one way or the other - unlike the the colors of the '08 Olympic soccer ball - but I'm pretty sure I heard the TFC crowd chanting "F--- Serioux" at one point. I was switching back and forth between channel 52 and the CBC broadcast - and there's an 18-minute gap in my PVR recording of the match, impeding my ability to verify the existence of said 2-word mantra. which may be germane as to motive?
