Good News for Time Warner Fans! Flipping channels here in Rochester, NY and TWC has New Channel called Olyp1 on 1072 which is the Soccer HD channel. Looks like they are now showing replay of Women's game China v. Sweden. I don't know if all their channels are the same because my Universal HD is 1076 not 724. So I recommend doing an HD flipping exercise to find it. I can't find the basketball channel though. Shows the US Men's game tomorrow morning along with all the others.
On the original spec sheet the channels were listed as HD channels. I'm not sure if they are being broadcast as both.
I watched streaming video on NBC's player this morning and it was great. Since then, it has sucked on my current connection. Damn job...
For DC-area Comcast people not getting the special channels, there may be another television option for some games...the Nigerian channel on digital cable (one of the MHz stations) had the Nigerian women's game this morning and might have Nigeria-Netherlands tomorrow.
OK, so to recap (this is a question as much as anything): Soccer games played by the United States will be shown live on all three of the following: -- MSNBC -- UniversalHD -- the dedicated Olympic soccer channel The Olympic soccer channel is an HD channel. The Olympic soccer channel will not be up and running until the 8th, according to some, which would mean that, in fact, tomorrow's U.S. game will not be available there. The Olympic soccer channel is already up and running, according to others, which means the U.S. game will be available there. (Can anyone please clarify the above?) NBC, Comcast, Time Warner, DirectTV and others have done a horrible job clearly conveying basic information to customers. (Nobody needs to clarify that one.)
And what should greet me on channels 221 and 222 this evening but olympic soccer and basketball channels? I never doubted Comcast! Not for a millisecond!
It was up and running on NBC's end this morning, but not all cable and satellite systems had the channel activated.
What channel name is showing up on your Comcast onscreen guide? I've got a whole lot of scrolling to do... Trying to figure out what I should be looking for.
This is INCORRECT. Tomorrow's game will be shown on all three of those channels. The other two first round games will be on USA, not MSNBC. In addition, it's unclear if games 2 and 3 will be shown live on the soccer channel, and on UniversalHD at all. In addition, all games will be shown live on the internet. Magic 8 ball sez "ask again later". This appears to be the case, but it's unclear at best.
My Beijing 08 Soccer channel is up and the program guides have been updated(Verizon FIOS). Currently the basketball channel is "Off-Air" and showing a test pattern while the soccer channel has a graphic that says, "Soccer Next Broadcast-5AM."
I watched the first four minutes to see how the feed would be. It works, but what's up with the initial screen saying USA v. Norway x - y, with the score. That's gonna be a little downer when I get up to watch the men tomorrow.
No kidding. They must be streaming at ~ 1 MB .. pic quality is excellent but, if my b-band begins to act up, it goes into a rebuffer quickly ... I wish one could choose the quality ... 600 Kbps would be enough for me and, at that speed, it almost never rebuffers
Anybody know how to get the matches in full screen? It seems Silverlight won't let me watch in full screen.
Best you can do is click on the "Extended Player" (or something like that) button. I couldn't find a full-screen button either.
