I have CNBC HD. CNBC seems like such a waste of HD bandwidth. I understand all those tickers can look really nice in HD, but I wish they had upgraded MSNBC instead.

Are there rebroadcasts on line later in the day where I don't have to get up at 4 in the morning?

Sorry if mentioned before in this thread, but in DC, basketball and soccer channels just popped up. HD channels 221 and 222.

Edit: sorry, should have said I have Comcast.

I had another talk with two more Suddenlink CSR today.

First one told me if they were providing those channels, then I would see TV commercials for them. Thanks, you are really helpful.

The other one told me Suddenlink will continue to carry NBC and MSNBC. Thanks again.

are the Honduras v. Italy and Ivory Coast v. Argentina matches on Telemundo Delayed broadcasts on August 7th?? I'd really like to know, that way I might be able to tape the Japan v. USA game in addition to both of these... that would be cool :)

I think I've seen one of those in a museum. What does it do? Does it play 8-tracks?

I actually have one! However, I can't seem to figure out what it does or find any kind of real use for it.

No, I'm pretty sure both of those matches are live.

I wish this board were run as well as redcard816 does with the women's board.:p
//I'm not sure that is complete, but I thought it would be worth posting again so it's not lost in the thread.

Looks to be a big no for the soccer channel on Comcast, except maybe a few limited areas. Comcast does say that it will have bunch of On Demand Olympic content, but I don't know how much soccer will be there.

According to this guy, US v Japan is on MSNBC the same time Italy v Honduras is on Telemundo. Ivory Coast v Argentina is on Telemundo immediately following. All live.

Unclear. On DirecTV, unless they haven't switched on the channel yet, it appears to be HD only. Which means I'm up a creek, and not very happy about it.

Much less unhappy now that I've sampled the online video feed. The quality is quite good.

I posted this in US Men general, but I want to make sure it's in the youth forum too (don't worry, I'm not spamming or trolling):

Ok, I had major issues with DirecTV this morning. I woke up to watch the U.S. women play Norway and was able to watch it, but I also wanted to see what was going on with the other games. The all-soccer channel (755) was not on and it wasn't even on my guide.

I was not happy, so I called DirecTV and they said the designated Olympic channels (750-756) will not be active until AFTER the opening ceremonies on Friday. They instructed me to call NBC directly.

I called NBC and they said they have received a number of calls and are "working on it."

I think we need to flood their phone system and make sure soccer gets some respect. If we don't have the soccer channel, then you'll have to watch the US men live tomorrow. Let's call and show them soccer is important!!!

    Here are the numbers:

    NBC - (212)-664-4444
    DirecTV - 1-800-494-4388

Milhouse - can you confirm if 755 is HD-only? Or did that not come up in your discussions? 'Cause the channel was off for me, but I assumed that was because it's been billed as an HD channel, and I don't get HD service.

FWIW, I have Verizon FIOS and the Basketball and Soccer channels were still test patterns for me this morning, but the program guide says they won't be on until the 8th...

I don't know if it's just HD. I didn't ask because I have HD and was excited about being able to see games that way. Sorry.

WARNING FOR TIME WARNER CUSTOMERS

I have TWC HD digital cable here in North San Diego County - I am taping MSNBC @ 2 AM to ensure that I get to watch the US-Japan game...

HOWEVER, I would prefer to view it on HD. Unfortunately, this game is apparently only going to be shown on Channel 724 Universal HD, which is NOT one of the myriad HD channels I either get for free or have paid for. I have NO idea whether they are going to unlock Universal HD for "free" for the duration of the Olympic Games, or even whether the unlock action will occur prior to the opening ceremonies on Friday. When I attempt to select the "record" option on 724 (even though the game is showing on the guide), it is not available to me.

Just an FYI, and I wanted to share thoughts with other TWC futbol fanatics!

I went to the DirecTV guide last night to record the Japan match, and it says the game will be on live on Universal HD channel (Channel 75 I believe), but none of the listings here indicate that. It's a joke that the soccer channels (750-756) aren't live until three days after the tournament starts, and now I'm wondering if I'll miss the game if I record the wrong channel, can't trust anything at this point. Anyone else confirm that the game is live on Universal HD channel tomorrow morning?

I was able to watch the US women today on Universal HD, so the US men should be on that station tomorrow. You should be safe there. The problem is the other games on the so-called all-soccer channel.

I really think if we call DirecTV and NBC, that will get some attention for them to get the channel up and running.
