The thing is that, we NEED a striker, and if Berba (who I don't even want in a United shirt) is unavailable then let's go for Villa, Huntleer, or somebody else, because we cannot go another season with just Rooney, Tevez, and Mr. Glass Saha himself.

If we're planning on giving Manucho and Campbell significant playing time then we do not need a striker at all.

Unfortunately, the Premiership cannot be a training ground for young players although a cameo role can do a lot of wonder for the overall development.

I thought I read where the Glass Man was reportedly at Sunderland's game over the weekend.

Saha was at the Sunderland game, and I have heard a lot that Roy is Keane to bring him to the SOL.

But so were our scouts :) Hopefully to see Huntelaar.

Looks like Fergie will give chances to Fraizer Campbell and Manucho (only if he gets a work permit).

But if Saha stays fit, I can see Fraizer Campbell in the reserves for a while.

As far as Danny Wellbeck is concerned, I would have said loan him out, but I am sure this year will be another reserves year with a few features now and again. The boy is 18 in a few days I think.

If this is to happen, we actually do not need a new striker. But I would go for one. Saha is really good but he is better off at another club, a good club, with good ambition, Sunderland.

Rotation, if the goal is to break into the top 4 you need a squad you can rotate some without loosing strength...

Pay 30m for Berbatov, just so Tottenham can fund a 32m bid for Villa....doesn't make sense...I'd have a one-eyed Villa before Berbatov

I lied...i just want a striker at this point

They will probably play Villa with Bentley, Arshavin and Gio/ behind. Then Zokora and Modric in the center.

And they'll leak more goals than Derby.

True. It'll certainly make for more entertaining encounters between us.

Cant argue with that... seems bloody ludicrous to shell out all the money on a striker that, on a good day, makes football look effortless and on a bad day is a lazy bastard (not very United). Villa will at least work for his money and he's got a year or two on Berba.

It seems like we always have at least one fixture a season where they play us off the park, or are the better team, but we sneak an individual goal. Last season @ OT, then the season before at OT as well. Also dont forget that howler by Roy Carroll.

tottenham always splash the cash but will always be on the outside looking in at the Big Four. Stability is so key to establishing a team capable of challenging for a place in the Champions League and every year it seems like tottenham go out and sign a bunch of players, some of whom, fail to integrate to the team/league/style of play. The best bet is to bring in 2-4 new players a year and slowly integrate them into the team and your style of play like we did last year with all our signings except tevez.

I believe villa is too good to sign for tottenham, and has already commited himself to valencia for this season. (as much as that means in modern football.) We should be working overtime to sign berbatov or huntelaar. Both would be the 9 we desperately need.

Tottenham are still short of central stability. Zakora is not a good enough midfielder and their defence is shaky. They can sign all the attackers they like; success is built on solid foundations.

That said, their squad can't get any thinner than Arsenals......
