Oh, bummer! I thought for sure they'd be wearing the men's shirts with the stripes across the chest.

I saw that photo earlier today and was thinking it was just their training shirts. That sucks. The men's shirts actually look really sharp. Not that the women's shirts suck, because they don't necessarily, but I like the men's much better.

At least y'all get new shirts for the OLY. [/bitter]

Not fond of the blockish red antlers on the shoulder at all. I think it loses its balance without the black Adidas lines over shoulders and sleeves. The shield is too intrusive. And where have their stars gone?

And that lopsided black thing on the support staff is quite horrible.

    An allround winner :D.

Why is Martina Muller not on the roster? I thought she was Germany's best forward, besides Prinz, at the World Cup last fall.

She's a great joker, I also don't know why they're not bringing her.

Interestingly, Neid explained most of her other choices, but not that one as far as I've seen.

    STOP.

If you want to talk smack, do it in the rivalry forum. Not here.

Your diktat should be in 1st place directed to your ill-humoured fellow Smulan.

Good-humour is not 'smack': it is and will ever be the essential - if not the most important - component of a discussion about football.

I've always played well-humouredly not only with her but with EVERYBODY in this Forum, and, just because of that, not everybody ever responded in gross and grumpy ways.

A bit of healthy provocation is not even 'rivalry' - it's that little amount of spice necessary to get rid of the dull taste of those boring conversations which dominate the majority your protegée's so cherrished 'message boards'.

But if somebody responds grumpilly to a well-humoured provocation (which has nothing to do with 'trolling'), don't worry, Redcard, I won't 'redcard' back.

I'll just feel in the right to respond (playfully as ever) IN THE SAME LEVEL - AS I (BTW, BRILLIANTLY) DID.

    Good day, Redcard! :p ...

The DFB Olympics brochure for the women's national team is available in German and English here: http://www.dfb.de/fileadmin/user_upload/2008-08/OlympiaBroschuere2008.pdf

And also on DFB's homepage- Célia Okoyino da Mbabi has a daily Olympics blog (in German): http://www.dfb.de/index.php?id=507589 . If you like surreal, you might prefer the eagle mascot Paule's blog (a giant stuffed bird blogging? Maybe Germans do have a sense of humour after all... ;)).

    Re: Germany Roster announced

    Hey, Smulan,

    What a good coincidence!...

My club's mascot is also a big bird, very similar BTW to that eagle.

It's a vulture (in Portuguese, urubu).

    Take a look:

Check the videos with the actual mascot in the stadium.

    http://www.flamengo.com.br/mascote/videos.html

Below the link for the Football schools of CR Flamengo, with mention to women's school.

    http://www.flamengo.com.br/site_clube/escolinha/fla_futebol_salao_campo.htm

    And...peace, mate.

Of course you've gotta feel proud of your great NT & Brzs are still a little angry at your last year's spanking of our girls in the World Cup, but that's part of football, isn'it?...

You understand our angrrrr, don't you?...

Cheers & luck for us in our opening game :) ...

Conny Pohlers is reported to have a "slight knee injury" and so didn't take part in the team's final training session today. She is unlikely to play against Brazil tomorrow. (http://www.dfb.de/index.php?id=500014&tx_dfbnews_pi1[showUid]=15276)
