We've got a month/month and a half still. I'm sure there'll be plenty of time to pick up some Chelsea castoffs and people who were relegated last season....

    Thx,

    Jay!

If I ever start a band it's going to be called "Chelsea Castoffs" or "People Who Were Relegated".

Well it is just speculation about Owen. There are no quotes from him, its just stating the obvious really. I can't see another club matching £105k a week even if he does go on a Bosman. We all said all along he wouldn't take a pay cut though, not unless you cut his wages by £10k a week and offer a £20k goal bonus or something.

FFS Ashley sort it out though... we can't let Owen leave on a free. Note this does not mean selling him now for £2m.

I would make him that offer in a heart beat. I'd lower his wages to say 75K a week and offer him an appearance fee and goal bonus to get him back up near 100K a week. I bet his goal scoring would go up big time if it ment more cash.

Owen needs to stay because without him what kind of a draw are we to good players? He's our best known player and one incoming players can get excited about working with. Plus how much would it cost to replace him? Even if we could get someone of his quality - which doesn't look likely. Prior to this past season I would be prepared to let him go, but he really impressed me last season. Hopefully this is just the club playing hardball, I don't think we've ever done that before so I'm not sure what it looks like

Meanwhile the Comical reckons we're after Burdisso as well as Coloccini. Whats with all the Argentines?

If you ever get a chance check a River, Boca, or Independiente match. Very physical , fast paced, and technical style of football they play in Argentina. IMO Aside from the language barrier most Argentines should be well suited for Premiership football.

No thanks, I really don't want a player that had to be shut down for the season for an emotional breakdown.

KK wants new faces by the end of this week apparently. Well what he actually said was:

    Hardly an Earth-shattering revelation.

Meanwhile Coloccini's agent has said we've made an offer, Coloccini himself has said he is staying at Deportivo. That old transfer tango.

I've also heard a rumour that Andy Johnson of Everton was spotted at SJP yesterday. Probably just a bald bloke though... we've got enough strikers who can't score in Shola and Smith.

Rumor has it that Ben Haim is off to City for 5 mil in the middle of the week. I know we don't like Chelsea cast-offs, but could this one have been different?

Johnson apparently wants to go back to London for family concerns.

As to Coloccini, his agent is quoted as saying that the player is on the verge of joining Newcastle for 10 million euros (about 7.8 million pounds). So saith Sky Sports News, which cited reports in the Spanish papers about the agent, or sommat. So it's probably a load of crap.

Is there a pro footballer alive that doesn't have family in London?

We've now been linked to...I forgot his name already.

Deportivo knocked back a 10-million euro bid from us, apparently, pissing off the player and his agent who allegedly has worked with us for months to drive up the fee only to see Depor raise their valuation last minute.

The talk/threat now is that Coloccini may walk out on a Webster.

Is this our new way of doing deals? Watch out La Liga here comes Dennis Wise and he's got a copy of FIFA's article 17 in his briefcase.

Agent speak... but this might show that the wages on offer aren't that bad?

I only worry that this will give us a bad rep in the transfer market in the future, if this becomes the second Webster signing for us in the same window. Of course, it gives us all kinds of leverage involving players like this to meet our price or they'll go for next to nothing.

I think Deportivo should cut us a deal after robbing us blind for Luque. Maybe the chairman remembers NUFC but hasn't realised there's been a change of ownership.

I think its more of a threat aimed at Deportivo than anything else... I imagine IF he does come it will be through a standard transfer. Its just telling them to stop playing silly buggers because FFS ain't in charge any more IMO.

It seems like everytime we bid for a player, a Big4 team supposidly jumps in and tries to steal our deal. How often has that actually happened?

    Gareth Barry.
    He's a Premiership-proven Left Back and semi-creative Midfielder.
Sell Given and N'Zogbia if the club needs the money to do the deal. We would still have a tremendous cadre of Goalkeepers and Barry would more than replace Zog. Combined salarys should about cancel out, too.

And for once we would have swooped in where others have failed...
