Well, there it is. Played Colorado tonight, won 3-1. Now everyone can stop crying. So sick of all this boo hooing about how we got an easy ride not having to play the Rapids. The Rapids got the easy ride not having to play us. Hope everyone is happy now.

    HA!!!

Hey! Maybe next year you can figure out a way to not have to play us? Then you could have had an undefeated season, that would be impressive. Oh, wait....yes it was impressive.

If you are from KC and a Brass supporter, I can appreciate your points above. I don't agree with them, but given how your organization works, I understand where you are coming from. If you are not a Brass supporter.....and you believe that there is anything going on with the Menace that isn't with other programs-- I have some ocean front property in Topeka to sell you.

As far as the age thing goes.....I refuse to even grace your comments with a reply. I will say this.....since they are the grandfather's of the league, don't mark them. Surely they aren't dangerous?

My biggest issue was that we woulda made the playoffs if they had played you rather than more games against springfield.

    Des Moines Menace Fans,

You guys are all the same. The truth is that Thunder Bay has made the Playoff for a second straight year. How have you guy's done in the past couple? Oh...right haven't touched the playoffs. Then you speak about the scheduling. I am going to be so honest with you...Colorado isn't that good....The Chill missed a few hundred chances in that game too. The Chill are hoping to play Colorado 16 games next year. Then we move on to you guy's calling Thunder Bay (Thugger Bay) because they are to rough. HAHA that is hilarious....that is why there is a ref on the field. Too rough is for little boy's which apparently you must be. Playoffs, Playoffs Playoffs. We never won a playoff game.(Was you latest complaint)....Looks like we have now. Where is your team right now???? Oh right sitting around doing nothing... All you guys do is dig around in the past and say what you guy's used to do. Well what have you done lately???? Oh right Third Place...... Thunder Bay Chill Heartland Champs Two Years Straight. I like how you guy's say "looking forward to Next Year.....Guess what we are still playing this year..... We aren't concerned about 2009 Yet..... Is there any real Menace fans that know anything about Soccer or even any sport. I would like to speak with the true soccer fans about games and how good teams really are. All the Menace fans on here do is talk trash about 10 years ago. Guy's it's 2008 and the Chill are still playing. Oh one more thing Chill finished 2nd Overall in the PDL.

And since I know many of you read this thread more than you answer your phones... those of you wanting tickets and to get together for the US/T&T WCQ please get in touch with me by tomorrow night if you are going or not. I need to know soon so I can get the ticket order in for the US supporters section.

Remember the game is Wednesday Sept 10th at 7pm. We can carpool or rent a van, if needed.

And if you from the area are planning on going independent of us, drop us a note. We'd like to tailgate at Toyota Park with any of you.

Everytime I read a BC Chill post I feel like I'm listening to one of my 3rd graders. Same "points" everytime: "get out of the past", "we're awesome NOW", "we've made the playoffs(still 6 times less than us)", "you guys suck" and "do you know anything about any sport?"

I would love to compare sports knowledge with a broken record like you.

don't try to compare, he'd act like one of those 9 year olds, get pissed, say the same null points over again, and be a bitch (bigger, bitch) and leave.

it is quite funny though. we own for a full decade, you suck for a decade. you are best twice, and we don't suck, just not 1st or 2nd, but not near bottom, and you talk mega shit. funny how you aren't touching head to head. i didn't even hit a menace game in years and i find this funnier than shit. in the years in which we were better, did we talk shit? no. did you? no. now you are better in league play, and you act like you won the national championship and smoked us in head to head. very funny. shows class more than anything. even if we have it or not, a thing for certain is that you don't.

My only issue with the fans in Des Moines is that you can't lose with class either. Let's be honest you guy's have come up with every excuse in the book about why Thunder Bay in winning. Scheduling, Roughness Bla Bla Bla. There is always something... The truth is that they finished at the top this year by having a great team. They have proved time and time again that they are a great team over the course of this season. In 2005 The Menace had a great team and made a great run through the playoffs and no one said anything to them about roughness, schedule and so on. We just thought the Menace had a tough team that deserved to win that year.

Seriously, just give it up. We haven't complained about losing to you. We got the better of the series this year with you guys. Nobody said anything about roughness in 2005 because we aren't a rough playing a team, never have been, nor the schedule because we've always played everyone.

As I keep saying, just look forward to your playoff teams and go debate them. This is very circular and just makes the thread repetitive.

Chill Fan-- I have a question for you? How necessary was it for TWO of your starters to get thrown out of the game the other night? You know, it doesn't hurt you during your regular season gamees when you can have a guy thrown out against Des Moines and then play Springfield the next week with a bench warmer on the field. However, as you move through the playoffs....the games will get a bit tougher than Springfield. Think you might need your starters on-site for games?

Again, I ask--why must your players continue to flagrantly disregard the laws of the game to the point they are red carded? And, what good do those players do you while they are out? Seriously, the game was pretty lopsided... why the thuggery? If you are such a good team, play cleanly-- is this so difficult?

Atleast we had even ONE post after we didn't make the playoffs. You "fans" didn't even post a single post after your one and out performance last year. And didn't start up again in your OWN thread until I brought it forward for you.

Kind of like the pot calling the kettle black, isn't it?

Well, let's analyze what happened there.....

    1) two footed
    2) from the side
    3) reckless
    4) got ball only after taking player down
    5) put hands on ref (Putrus) when "discussing"

Yep. Could have really iced it if only they'd have spit on someone, but I'd say well deserved. If you notice, there is a signal from the AR telling the CR to go to the pocket. I'd say the incident wasn't the first thing that #15 had done in the game? Seems to me there is some context that we don't get from the provided video....how convenient.

This is all covered in the 2007-2008 FIFA LOTG page 39. Allow me to quote for you-
"A player, substitute or substituted player is sent off and shown the red card if he commits any ot the following seven offences:
    1) is guilty of serious foul play
    2) is guilty of violent conduct
    3) spits at an opponent or any other person
    4) denies the opposing team a goal or an obvious goalscoring opporunity by deliberately handling the ball
    5) denies an obvious goalscoring opportunity to an opponent moving towards the player's goal by an offence punishable by a free kick or penalty kick
    6) uses offensive of insulting language and/or gestures
    7) recieves a second caution in the same match

Page 41 then goes on to say in Decision 4-
"A tackle, which endagers the safety of an opponent, must be sanctioned as serious foul play"

There you have it......nothing appears "bogus" to me. I'd guess that #s 1, 2, and 6 were all present in the situation shown in the video. Way to show the class TB exudes to millions of people on YouTube!

To clarify the Officials signals - watch them next session.
When an AR puts his hand on his chest pocket he is signaling to the Center Offical to administer a Yellow Card. When you see the AR tapping his back pocket that is the signal for the center official to administer a red card.
The context which is missing is that this was his first foul - likely the officials had a pre-game meeting and discussed the players, which generally is not a problem. In this case this was the officials first game at this level and unfortunately was way over his Head. In fact, I understand he apoligized after the game that he should have given a yellow and the reason he gave the red was that the player swore. Give me a break!!! Yellow card yes - but don't BS about the foul language.
