how noble of him...he won't last past the winter transfer window before he gets scooped up for real, hopefully he starts scoring to up his price tag for the bigger fish to catch
No, if Wigan were to sell him, they would have done it after the season ended with summer transfers opening up numerous possibilites for any club to re-shape their team. Wigan made it clear Valencia was 'not for sale' and he therefore stayed to finish out his contravt until probably next season. They won't sell their MVP during the winter transfers. Expect him to stay there until 2009-2010 season begins.
Un saludo a todos I was really sad to see Vera go b/c he is my favorite player at Liga and to top was going to America de Mexico which I really hate I would have rather him go to any other team except that one and now it appears he will stay with us! Vamos Liga
you might be right, but one cannot discard the option, Bolton sold Anelka to Chelsea and he was Bolton's best player...Anyway, its too much speculation for right now. Regardless, Valencia is with a good team, whether he stays with Wigan or goes to the big 4. As for Vera, I'm glad to see him stay with Liga, assuming the news is totally correct. he is a key piece to the midfield and would be tough to replace. Las Aguilas would just pay him well but they'll never get anywhere in south american tournaments, for the competition, he's better off with Liga who will be guaranteed the Copa Sudamericana competition, the World Club Cup, and then next year's CL....
and Vera is now officially a player of America...thank you Ramber for helping us lift the trophy and for all your hard work and dedication the past few years with Liga, you will forever be a liguista!! I wish him the best of luck with America until we have to meet again as rivals... I for one will be sad to see him leave but grateful for what he has done
same here sad but greatful, reminds me of when Fossati left everybody shouting no te vayas Fossati!!!!
Salas is very good, a tough kid. had some bad luck with injuries which never allowed him to fully develop to his potential but the kid is back in action and shows signs of his former self... in other news, Reasco is back with Liga
I have acouple of questions for my ecua bros. Why is it that now, After LDu won the Copa Lib..The media is saying this is a victory (LDU) for all of Ecua futbol but all the media including Canal UNo is from Guayaquil. I have not heard ONE broadcaster or news from QUITO stating this? As I recall when Barcelona made it to the Copa Lib Final.. IT was guayaquil this and Guayaquil that..Canal Uno broadcaster right after LDU won stated that barcelona is still the greatest Club in Ecuador...Unity or jealously??
You have been to Ecuador and you pretty much know how the sh!t is over there. It's the typical regionalism and I would have to throw in jealously as well. Barcechokers may have the majority of fans in the country, but after Liga's recent international performance, sin ninguna todo, the greatest ecua club of all time up till today. It's funny that la selecion had to move to Quito, and a Quito club gave the country great satisfaction by going to WC's back to back and the first Libertadores championship(and i don't want to hear that altura BS),and when la sele used to play in GYE,,,igual todos nos goleaban.El futbol ecuatoriano si hizo respetar in UIO, y no en GYE asi que esos broadcaster's amargados del guayas need to recognize.
I for one am not a sell out.. I did congratulate LDU for their win and that's where it stopped... but I am not riding any bandwagon saying it's an "ecuadorian" victory... NO sir.. It's an LDU victory and that club's only! They don't represent me or my city.. so why would I take part in glory of that team when am I not their hincha?? Sounds ridiculous to me and to any news agency or fake fan just riding the breezes of victory that are not theirs.... Maybe they represent ecuadorian's league improvement and growing professionalism, rather the ecuadorian league's status due to LDU, an ecuadorian club winning the libertadores, but they are not the seleccion.
because Liga was one of Ecuador's 3 representatives in the Copa Libertadores this year, yes, it is a triumph for Ecuadorian football. Considering the fact that Liga has won, with mostly homegrown talent, and that many of the ballers on the team come from different parts of Ecuador, they represent the country as a whole, there are Liga fans all over Ecuador, and fans from other teams that don't support Liga normally but supported a domestic team over a brazilian team. Maybe when Ecuador wins more Libertadores championships then we can start to take away the "country's triumph" role, but Ecuador has a very short pedigree in regional/international football, plus we're a small country...this means that any triumph by a team from Ecuadorian soil should and most likely will be celebrated by the country as a whole. It's an inspiration for many teams to continue working hard, to continue investing in their youth, and to continue to aspire for bigger things. I will not sit on the laurels and begin to discredit Liga's win as a mere fluke or as a team only for Liga fans to celebrate because I know millions of fans once again were proud of a triumph of an Ecuadorian institution and a team that represented millions of Ecuadorians...I would consider it to be the same triumph if Barcelona did it, or Emelec, hell, even Aucas...
Dida is back!!!!!!!!!!! El chileno comes to Liga with a nice looking resume.
I too read this story earlier, I think he will be a great fit with Liga...best of luck to him and the team!
Are any fans from LIGA going to the Ecuador Colombia friendly at Giant's stadium? Want to get together.. do some tailgating and go in together I will take my LDU Flag and will be wearing my Franklin Salas LDU Jersey! Vamos Ecuador
Pedro Larrea should take Vera's spot. That kid already played Libertadores and Sudamericanas and impressed me very much. Kind of reminds of a young Edwin Tenoribregon one of my fav ecua baller of all time has given enough.
i also thing Larrea should get more chances hes a good, el Capi Obregon ya esta viejo pero aveses se manda unas jugadas he still has it.
I started to think about a report I saw on Fox Sports one day about Liga's ability to capitalize off the libertadores win in a positive way: -demanding more sponsorship money for positioning on the jersey -a wider base of season ticket holders -renegotiated tv contracts -using the youth league as a base of development/income generator at least for the youth league and tv contracts, i know liga is working towards that, we should definitely begin to attract more fans at a consistent level bc one reason some of the bigger teams are so successful is because attendance is high for every game-to my knowledge, boca doesn't even offer more cupos for season ticket holders because they're usually all booked. like most ecua teams, we suffer due to fair weather fans who bandwagon, sadly its a reality that even the big teams in ecuador face from time to time and for games against macara or espoli, its imperative to get big numbers out.... just my 2 cents on that, and thats just a very basic idea of what needs to be done to get liga into a more established level where it can increase its yearly budget and recognition at a more consistent pace
noveleros they only go when its "important games" when i lived in Ecuador i would go to all the games no matter what team played when we went to la seria "B" you could tell who were the real hinchas i think Liga should do a tour around USA and maybe spain play some friendly games over here ill go to any city just to see them live again but since sudamerica y mundial de clubes is coming up i dont think they would do it anytime soon.
