They've had a falling out because he's not playing because lucas is playing and he wants another DM.

I said that barry can play LB but he has been playing DM for the last eighteen months and has been great for club and country. The fact that he can cover for clichy or our left winger is an added bonus.

Newcastle have made a shock bid for Arsenal defender Philippe Senderos, increasing the growing tension between Arsene Wenger and his board over the continuing exodus of players.

The Arsenal manager was stunned when the offer of about £4million arrived on Wednesday and even more bemused when it was not rejected out of hand by the club.

I dont really have a problem with selling Senderos for 6 million... and I like Senderos

in saying that, if we dont sign anyone back there (which we wont) then I can see Wenger's anger

I would not take this article too seriously. There are no quotes from anyone even remotely involved in dealing with Senderos (not even a made up agent). The only quote in the entire article is from Keegan...

If Keegan thinks his weaknesses are the fullback positions then it would be far more likely to see him bid for Eboue, J. Hoyte or Traore before Senderos (seeing as Senderos can't play fullback). This is typical tabloid crap, they're just trying to get more website hits and sell more papers by using this "Arsenal in Crisis" theme.

For God's sake yes do it.

I can't see why not. Frankly if I had to choose between getting a CM or a CB at this point I'd rather have a CB, and there have got to be some out there. Maybe Mertesacker is cheaper now that he just had surgery.

Senderos at fullback would be par for the course at Newcastle.

I wouldn't think that arsene will sign a Centre Back irrespective.Didn't he say that he had belief "song can be a great centre back for arsenal football club".
With toure, gallas, senderos, djourou and him he probably will promote harvard as the 4th or 5th choice if he sells any of them other than the first choice pairing .Interesting to note that out of the above lot it was nordveit who cost the most at a paltry 2 million pounds.

Aliadiere Tips McGeady For Gunners Move

McGeady was heavily linked with a move to the Premier League this summer after a sensational season in Scotland, having tallied seven goals and an amazing 19 assists as he helped the Hoops clinch their third consecutive SPL title.

North East rivals Sunderland and Newcastle United led the chase for the 22-year-old before he effectively ruled out a move by signing a new five-year deal with the Bhoys.

Aliadiere trained in person with a teenage McGeady during a short stint at Parkhead in 2005, and he insisted the Republic of Ireland international has come on in leaps and bounds since then.

"When I was at Celtic Aiden wasn't starting games all the time and wasn't a regular pick," the Middlesbrough striker said in the Sunday Mail.

"But he is now involved every week and doing well at a high level. I watched him last season playing in the Champions League and he is a quality player."

Some have questioned whether McGeady is ready for the trip south of the border, suggesting the Glasgow native would struggle with the increased pace and intensity of the English game.

But Aliadiere believes the tricky attacker has all the raw materials to succeed at the very highest level, and even claimed that he would be an ideal addition to the Arsenal squad – if he should decide to leave Celtic at all, that is.

"He has the talent to make an impact in the Premiership and could go on to star for a big club in England - Aiden is the type of player Arsene Wenger likes," the 25-year-old continued.

"But I also see Celtic as a big club and it must be great for Aiden and the other players to know they have Champions League football every season."

Who wouldn't want a CB over a DM on a team that has 5 CBs and 0 DMs...

If we sold Senderos, no one would come in to repalce him. We aren't going to bring in a CB like Mertesacker to sit on the bench, and we won't get rid of Toure or Gallas.

I don't rate senderos at all, but even I wouldn't sell him at this point.

Firstly ley me say i don't believe this story for one minute. We could put this down to rumours involving Shay. it's tit for tat rumour mongering. Indeed £6mil would be difficult to turndown but no he ain't going nowhere. I want to take the alleged Wenger was "stunned" quote. let's say this story is true would that be a surprise? Have we had a denial of we are a selling club quotes attributed to Wenger?

    How about Helb's quotes:
"Wenger is everything to Arsenal. The future for Arsenal, if Wenger stays, is that they will always play at the top. "But of course it is difficult now because Arsenal have a few political differences. When he leaves, I think this is a difficult time coming for Arsenal."

Recently Wenger reported to of stated: "I fight to get the players the maximum wages, but you have to respect that we have a wage structure"

Something ain't right when you have 2 major shareholders who remain outside of the boardroom. one of which is headed by Wenger's best friend inside and outside of football, David Dein. Who remembers Henry's very telling interview with some US tv company last summer before he made his move to Barca? we all know that the son of DD is his best mate.

Where am i going with this? bluntly there is a growing band of avid gooners who stronly to believe the way the club is progressing both on and off the pitch that the team will not win a major trophy being at the sole operation of the current board.

Interesting rumor, this sounds more like a Wenger deal

    http://www.people.co.uk/sport/footb...objectid=20673552&siteid=93463-name_page.html

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger is making a late move for Switzerland Euro 2008 star Goekhan Inler - and is fighting Newcastle United for his signature.

Wenger has been in contact with the Udinese ace's camp and has lear ned the clever attacking midfielder has a get-out clause at just over £5 million.

Inler's agent has been in talks with Newcastle for over a fortnight. But now Arsenal have come in the deal will hinge on who offers the best terms.

The Toon are fuming as they thought they had a deal. But Wenger's interest has set them back.

Inler is vastly cheaper than Aston Villa's Gareth Barry, who interests Wenger - but not at the £18m asking price.

The Swiss star is equally capable and rated the most gifted player in his homeland. He also coped well with Serie A and is an Arsenal type of player - full of skill and good vision.

    so rediculous isnt it?
look at that "mass exodus" of players and their situations.

flamini - out of contract (banked huge in personal wages)
gilberto - age/playing time was going to be an issue
hleb - hated england/london (personally cant blame that)
    lehmann - out of contract/age

you can win with kids, but we definitely need a little more experience, imo.
