I''m glad to hear that the pace has picked up, as they seemed pretty tired on Monday. Is the whole team there now?
The Houston players were still in DC for tonight's game, which had been twice postponed and then had a 160 minute thunderstorm delay and finished after midnight.
Brian was there though it's hard to tell who everyone is in those brief clips. Not only did I shoot them with my tiny pocket elph, Picasa degraded the quality even more. I am going to take the videocam with me today.
Thanks for the update. Its good to here how the boys are preparing. If they can medal that would be a big deal.
We (small son/I) arrived at the field shortly before 10, hoping we would arrive in time for the scrimmage. Instead, we found an...empty field. We started talking to the guy next to us, who turned out to be from channel 11, and who started asking me lots of questions about soccer. (That in itself is pretty amusing, given my level of knowledge of soccer lore, but given that "Brandon Donovan" was one of the two MLS players whose names he knew, I figured I was a comparative expert.) Just as we were wondering if we should leave, the vans drove into the parking lot and players appeared. The Houston players were not initially there, but they showed up after about a half hour. Everyone hugged them, which was kind of cute. They ran around and did some touch drills for about 45 minutes, then (just when that was getting boring) started on a conditioning circuit drill that we are probably going to borrow for our kids because it looked brutal but effective. There was a lingering haze from the big fire at the Palo Alto dump, but no clouds and the guys were pretty miserable in the late morning heat. We were so close that we could touch them--if we had brought our misters we would have been the most popular people there. They took a break around 11:15, and my son and I walked over to my office, picked up some water, and came back. And in those 20 minutes, everyone had vanished. http://picasaweb.google.com/tyffaneesue/OlympicsAtStanford
Watched a friendly in Kobe between Japan and Australia last night. Japan 2, Oz 1. US and Japan match first in their group in Beijing.
We didn't even think to look in the gym on the way back from my office! The publicity coordinator mentioned something about the team having to be somewhere at 12:20, but I thought it was back at the hotel. (She was trying to get the channel 11 guy to do interviews at the hotel rather than on the field, and he was not happy about it. Then he asked me where they were staying!) I looked for you, Guy--sorry you missed it.
He was the camera guy, not a reporter. I don't remember his name (he phoned his office while I was there so I did hear it!) but am pretty sure it was not Raj.
Obviously late, but a few videos I took from Wednesday's practice up at http://s509.photobucket.com/albums/s335/TigersFIMA/US%20U23%20Olympic%20Team%20Practice/, in case anyone's interested.
