I suppose it is. When you think you're right, and youre a super power, people can't really argue with you. Its a hell of an uphill climb, start out guilty and have to prove your innocence to a panel of people who are already convinced youre guilty. Wouldn't wanna be 'em.

    Whats executive priveledge?

The HRC is one of the few organizations that is putting pressure on the government about this. It's why some of the detainee cases have gone to the Supreme Court, and the government has lost those battles. From Day 1, I was saying how it was against the Geneva Convention, and when that got brought up anywhere, it was always struck down as "the detainess are not soldiers of a regular army, so we don't have to follow the Geneva Convention.' Well, guess what, the US Supreme Court says you do. Assbite.

Executive Priveledge is basically immunity from prosecution for government officials. For instance, Queen Elizabeth could come over here and commit a crime, then invoke Executive Priveledge to not be prosecuted for it.

Okay, on that fun note, I have to go to work now.

I'd love to watch all the videos you linked, but I have that super-special work internet connection and it might take 28 years for them to download. :(

*EDIT* The bandwidth test just timed out. Fabulous. That means I'm getting <5 kbps

I can see that argument, becuase I get angry becuase we've lost a few MEDICS becuase they jsut don't give a shit. But if we are trying to lead by example, then we should effin lead by example. There's been a Canadian citizen detained in Guan. since he was a MINOR(I think 15 but don't quote me on it), and Harper won't do shit to help him. I think its disgraceful, and its only one case of many.

Thats BS. Not be prosecuted on US soil but if she goes home, could she be there? Can say, Iraq chose to charge him with something? If they could ever ever ever ever ever get their hands on him ever?!

yeah, that was on the news some time last week...if we're holding people for the WAR on terror. How does that make them detainees and not prisoners of WAR?

Is it circular? If so, it could be a spider bite.

Yeah, that sounds just like a spider bite. They get really warm. It'll probably develop a puss filled center as your body tries to fight the infection. To help with the itching, take a Benadryl and put a cold compress on it. Your body should already be winning the battle. If it's still that size after 24 hours, check with your doctor.

I think at the end of the day, many other developed nations are reluctant to act because they do some of the same shit (I mean France blew up a Greenpeace ship in another countries territory for Christ sakes). Enforcing international law is pretty freaking difficult. Especially when your sitting with a veto on the only international body (the security council) with actual teeth. I mean China has broken every rule in the book and yet if they tried to act China could just veto. Its a messed up world I tell you.

PS. John McCain is screwed. Malaki and Obama looked like new best friends on tv. Obama is going to absolutely clobber him in November. Soon enough John will be in Viagra commercials and playing shuffleboard on carnival cruises.
