  2. Maybe the Revs need to be reminded that the Breakers will be back next year and it will probably cut into their "Soccer Mom & Youth Soccer" marketing scheme.

Re: Mark Briggs is a douche bag

I only got to the second page, but seriously, I don't give a shit if someone from the Revs reads this. They need to know what is going on.

After the Brizil-Mexico game last year when they were badly unprepared, they basically did not do anything different for this year's Brazil-Venezuela game. When the same kind of crap started (that literally anyone could have predicted) they acted all surprised with the lame-ass excuse that they were undermanned and could not have known that thsi was going down.

For that reason alone, Mark Briggs should be fired. End of stroy. If I f-ked up that badly on my job, that's what would happen to me.

this was my exact thinking before the season as well.

i find it a huge slap in the face. i have traveled all over the place supporting this team and not once have been "escorted out" for anything. Trust me, I have done much worse than some people at games and gotten away with it.

But the ONE game I do not drink, the ONE game I actually didn't swear, the ONE game I actually didn't flip the bird (all of which I usually do at home games, but I was more worried about the game itself last night) I get tossed.

Absolutely ludacris. I am serisously thinking of filing a lawsuit. They threatened to throw me in jail if I didn't give them my license. And they also said my season tickets can be revoked for "what I did".

Said it once, say it a million times - Mark Briggs and TeamOps need to get the 2 ft flagpoles out of their fat as$es and realize that the ones causing problems are the ethinic fans they try to attract.

They picked me out because I am a white, college-aged male. I call that reverse discrimination. And don't for one second think that doesnt happen because I have heard and seen quotes from TeamOps members saying they dont deal with foreigners because they would file discrimination lawsuits. So they pick on us instead because we can speak English.

I want my money from my season tickets back. Now.

I say we, the Fort, protest by going to the next game and stay in the parking lot and leave the fort empty. OR - go and fill the Fort and go fcking nuts lighting off all types of pyros and flags and streamers and make them kick us out for ACTUALLY DOING SOMETHING against stadium policy.

So your company doesn't like it when you don't do your job, and then create work for yourself?

You're not the fort. You're the guy asking for the money from his season tickets back. You're the guy on the couch.

Another thing to mention is the double standard between Revs fans and Patriots fans. None of their "reasons" for tossing would get so much as a second look at a Pats game. I followed right behind Monty and went out with him and (sorry, are we keeping said tossee anonymous?) and I harped on about that to the security goons. One of them said to us, quite hautily, "You don't even know what goes on at Pats games." Monty had to inform said security goon that he was a Pats STH for 15 years.

I think the only way to do this would be to go in early...get all the close seats, and as the wistle blows, turn around an leave. Otherwise people will just go sit down there from the begining and it may be lost

    Spot on.
Keep in mind, though, you're always going to have people fill the seats and cheer. Those that don't want to join in the protest. Remember the 12 minutes of silence when people were still attempting to chant?

I've gotten almost nothing done at work today and this is only my first post of the day... Wow.

Because, hey, the Fort might be a place where people who want to support the team gather to do so, you know, instead of a group of self-important people who have been wronged by society (that's what the Riders are for ;)).

Not saying you haven't been harshly done by, but you're reaching or have crossed the line, IMHO.

    dude,
I'm not a rider and even I think this is an unreasonable statement. yes, they can sometimes come across as elitist and "self-important", but c'mon, your assertion is totally unfair and shows a bit of a misunderstanding about what actually occured.

they threw a kid (the wrong kid) out for flipping a bird to opposing fans who were actually breaking rules and being classless scum. they turned an innocuous situation into a huge incident/problem.

you know that they would never throw someone out at a pats game for flipping the bird. it's rediculous.

This isn't about wanting to hang banners the size of rhode island or bringing in massive pyrotechnics or shooting poison tipped blowdarts at the refs (which might not be a terrible idea).

    this is about unreasonable harrassment.
this is about security members taunting another fan as she was being escorted out. this is about a group of supposed professional security who acted grossly unprofessional and caused a problem rather than doing their job. and this is about a FO that refuses acknowledge a problem.

is expecting fairness, common sense and professionalism from security unreasonable?

You don't have to go down there. I'm not always there, I'm not always at the game, I take months or years off of bigsoccer at a time. I think there is value in stepping back and realizing that one's own attitude can be spoiling the fun for everyone else (this from someone with years of experience as a killjoy).

Don't pervert the spirit of the Fort with a grudge. Step back, and if things don't get resolved through appropriate channels instead of distracting ones, then walk away for a while.

That's my advice on the subject.

hey, trust me, I've been away from the fort 2 years now. What I saw last night was so unfair and such an injustice, it's appauling. I'm mad as hell. I missed the last 15 min trying to talk some reason into security. I stayed and spoke with them afterwards at the top of the section.

They are all nice guys, but by their own admission are totally clueless. most unskilled with no knowledge of how to handle security situations. So what you have is a bunch of unskilled non-professionals on a hair trigger....

    seems bad to me.

i would also like to add that if I did flip the bird, I would admit to doing so and give a reason as to why I would. but I didn't, like i said, for this one game. go friggen figure.

i like the paper bag idea. sit in silence with paper bags over our heads. keep in mind we would need to explain to each individual in the section why we are doing it so they dont start chants.

Why can't an organized group of supporters protest injustice? Isn't the point of a supporters group to defend the rights of fans, and to help support the team at the same time? If they aren't allowed to protest, then it defeats the spirit of a supporters group. Protesting for the sake of, is stupid. Protesting against fan injustice, is righteous.

Remember, the team is there to serve the fans. Not the other way around. The problem with teams in leagues that have anti-trust exemptions, and no local competition, is that they can do whatever they want without threat. We are consumers, and we have the right to demand common decency.

So who's up for passing the hat to go toward a USL1 or USL2 franchise fee to place a team in Boston?

Many years ago my ex husband who was a police officer had gone to the Worcester District Court for a case. Another case was being heard at the same time. A state trooper had given a motorist a ticket for giving him the middle finger. After a recess the judge came back and said that he had done a lot of research but could not find anywhere in the law books that the middle finger was a crime even though we all know that it is a sign of disrespect, and therefore he threw the case out of the court because no crime had been comitted. The state trooper was so mad he called the judge by name and then gave him the middle finger and walked out of the courtroom!:D

Careful, that's how urban legends start. We don't want to give hollywood writers any material for a sequel.

Well this was in 1984 and I think it was the way the ticket was written. Instead of giving a ticket for disrupting the peace or something like that... the ticket actually stated for "giving the middle finger."...
