Well, to be fair, not everyone in the Middle East is Arab either. Persians for example. (I don't know if they wear Keffiyeh tho'.) But thanks for the clarification as I've been wanting one for the exact reasons you said - they're really comfortable and useful but I didn't want to wear something that is considered a religious or specifically ethnic item. (I don't think anyone will confuse me with a terrorist. )
Eeeerrrr...no. Farsi is an Indo-European language which includes Celtic, Baltic and Germanic languages whereas Arabic is an Afro-Asiatic language related to Hebrew and other Semitic languages. As a fun experiment, try asking an Iranian about what it is like being an Arab.
Okay, I'll give you that. Watch or read Persepolis which is an excellent autobiography about a girl growing up in Iran during the shah, the ensuing revolution, and the resultant new "parliment".
The CIA Factbook says that 3% of Iran is Arab. https://www.cia.gov/library/publications/the-world-factbook/geos/ir.html
Hey now, I corrected myself. Thanks for the correction on my Farsi statement. I have never studied the Middle East but just gone off my experiences so I get some things confused.
Ebay: http://search.ebay.com/search/search.dll?from=R40&_trksid=m37&satitle=Keffiyeh&category0= or http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=Keffiyeh+Store It was a popular fashion trend that has died down, but the underground hipster scene can still be seen wearing them.
and thank you for pointing that out, when i was handing them out last year, i tried to make that distinction. i havent had a chance to buy a couple hundred more this season, but maybe i should get my ass in gear...
also try different spellings, i typed in kafiyah (i think) and found some other ones too, i guess translating phonetically from arabic to english gets dicey
Liz, you lie badly. Everyone knows that Oscar invented bandanas, tight pants, and indie. Oh and coolness too.
Great design. This is a company that can print that design on bulk fabric, but at $25 per yard it is a bit pricey. http://www.scfabricprinting.com/index.html
actually I had to explain what bandana is at few places I asked in Europe it's not question of finding place to make it, it's question of finding place that can make it cheap and quality like other things speacially for something that's bit of a fringe thing (compared to scarf or tee). Like I said it would have to compete with 99 cent black bandana from dollar stores that are printed in millions in China. I'm not sure what normal price on other bandanas is cos I've been buying those cheap ones since highschool too I just don't want to get stuck with tons of unsold things like Marco scarves or posters, even breaking even is bad since that just maintains status quo
