Orlindo Ayovi to FSV Frankfurt?? Well, the German 2nd league can be better for many of these players until the adapt to the country and pace of a European league wirth out having to deal with the pressures of playing the 1st league. I just hope they eventually get promoted or get sold to a club that not nly plays 1st division but that competes in Europe as well. Borja, should no longer be playing 2nd division at Mainz, for example. My two cents!!
Blackburn have taken Red Star Belgrade and Ecuador midfielder Segundo Castillo on trial and he may feature on the club's tour to Germany. (Daily Mirror) So I guess if he plays well he'll earn a contract.
. Does anybody know the rules on this??? Is this legal?? I've never heard of having a player play on your team for a "trial period". What kind of BS is this?
It happenes a lot. These trial periods are not that uncommon. They are also not very long and will most likely have to be solved before the transfer window closes or maybe even before the season starts. We have had a lot of Ecuadorians go to Europe on trial periods just to return a month a later.
Sounds like there was some confusion... Castillo and his agent thinking transfer... Blackburn thinking trial period during their pre-season training camp in Germany. Apparently, he was brought to the attention of Paul Ince through "agents." (Lancashire Telegraph)“Paul has done research but feels he cannot commit to this signing without the benefit of seeing the player." "Ince is still planning to take a closer look at the Ecuador midfielder Segundo Castillo but, knowing he cannot afford to squander any of his transfer kitty on potentially risky signings, he won’t make a move for the player unless he gets an opportunity to see him at the club’s pre-season training camp in Germany." http://www.lancashiretelegraph.co.u...15348.Blackburn_take_closer_look_at_Castillo/ I really hope the transfer works out for Castillo as long as he gets some minutes. Especially since goal.com is reporting, Juventus have cooled to the idea of anymore signings. http://www.goal.com/en/Articolo.aspx?ContenutoId=780830 http://www.goal.com/en/Articolo.aspx?ContenutoId=779439
I could see this happening with a youth player who has little experience or exposure outside of ecuador - but we are talking about a guy who plays in a legit 2nd tier league and who has played in the UEFA cup etc. Im sure somebody videotapes those games! The whole situation sounds fishy to me especially with almost all of the press quotes coming from Castillo himself.
Looks like things didn't work out for Castillo: http://uk.eurosport.yahoo.com/24072008/1/rovers-rule-castillo-deal.html I'm not an expert on the transfer market, but whenever I hear players and their agents making claims like "both Juventus and Blackburn are competing to sign me" - I get a little suspicious. It sounds very shady, like someone is trying to create an interest that doesn't really exist. Not to mention the 6 Million GBP price tag. It seems to me what really happens is this: Castillo, who is a very good player, wants to play in a more glamourous league. He calls his agent. The agent reaches out to his contacts and makes a few phone calls. He does some analysis on similar players who have transferred to come up with a price tag. A couple of clubs are interested in reinforcing their midfield, so they request more information on the player. All of a sudden, the agent and player reach out to the press stating that these two teams are interested and they are working things out for a transfer. Then when the interest doesn't grow, the agent offers to send the player over for a "trial period", to which the club agrees. The trial period ends and the player does nothing special to justify the price tag. All of the above is pure speculation of course. But Castillo's situation reminds me of Carlos Tenorio's - they are stars in small leagues and have not been able to make a pitch to go to bigger leagues. Yet they are always promising to play in a big league "next year". I think they look better to their fans and their team members if they keep it quiet and do their bidding under the radar.
