I was a medals and Papa Gino's guy. My favorite memento of my U-12 coaching time was the team-autographed shirt I got at the end of one season. Oh, and the great soccer mom that I met and subsequently married while I was coaching!
Anyway... sorry to bring this back on topic but, anyone thinking about driving down to RFK for the game?
http://blog.washingtonpost.com/soccerinsider/2008/08/afternoon_kickaround.html *The U.S. Open Cup championship game is scheduled to be played Aug. 26, but for various reasons, the match will probably be moved to September. If D.C. United defeats New England in next Tuesday's semifinal at RFK Stadium, the final is likely to be Sept. 3 at a site to be determined. If the Revs win, expect the championship to be settled later that month.(Sept.) Seattle and Charleston will face each other in the other semifinal. I would guess that, with a victory, DCU will host the final regardless of the opponent. But if the Revs win, perhaps the USL entry will stage the game?
Well, if the ELM can finagle it so we play in Seattle a couple days before or after the Colorado Sept 20th match I might be persuaded to sell off my Farm Aid 2008 tickets and make that trip.... I don't think I'd do a stand alone Seattle trip...but we'll see!
I do, but they can't have it in New Britain because thats just a joke, we're over saturated up here in Mass, so if you want to host it in CT thats the only place.
new britian is fine for is rinky dink game. Folks there do a good job, the field is nice and it holds enough.........UCONN campus could be an interseting choice but New Britain is in the center of the state and would draw more people.....chances are it will not be here in CT anyway
Except Rentscheller isn't on the Storrs campus, it's in East Hartford which pretty center of the state too.
I did not say the rent was at storrs, I said the campus was an interesting option, meaning Morrone field
I asked Tornberg last year about using Rentschler. He said that as it is managed by AEG they don't want to book an event with the competition. The rent for Rentschler is reasonably high as well.
D'oh... I wanted to drive straight from Toronto to Charlestwon, guess that won't be happening and if they play in Seattle, I am having horrible luck with missing Open Cup games.
Sept. 15 New England Revolution (MLS) at Seattle Sounders (USL1) Qwest Field; Seattle, Wash. 7 p.m. -- or -- Sept. 22 New England Revolution (MLS) at Charleston Battery (USL1) Blackbaud Stadium; Charleston, S.C. 7 p.m. 2000 miles to Charleston.....16hr 45 min per Mapquest. I'll do it in 12. $400-$450 in gas....4 people in the Trailblazer. Very do-able! Seattle? Not so much!
