the issue is not with the word "delighted" but with the lack of the word "sign". The article about Nasri just says "agreed to deal"

Is anyone totally happy that, even though we've acquired the new Zidane, we might be replacing one of our pivotal players with a lad who could take a year or longer to adapt to the Prem?

    http://www.arsenal.com/article.asp?...+The+reasons+why+I+wanted+to+sign+for+Arsenal

Martin, read his interview. I think it is obvious that he has signed.

First, we have known that he was going to sign for a long time now. All we were waiting for was his signature. Why would Arsenal make such a fuss about him now if he did not sign the contract?

Second, why would Arsenal interview a player and welcome him to AFC if everything has not been finalized. It would make no sense to do this, especially if he signing is contingent on selling another player given that Arsenal does not have complete control on whether Barcelona will buy Hleb at all. Wouldn't this be jumping the gun? What if Barcelona do not decide to buy Hleb?

Third, in the interview Nasri says this, "I had good times at Marseille, but no, it was not difficult, as I leave the past behind me now that I have signed for Arsenal. This is a new stage in my career. When I was with Marseille, I was still the little boy, staying with my mum and dad, and today it’s a great moment for me to join Arsenal. It will be a little weird because I will have to get used to a new life, but I’m grown up now and I am ready to cope with this change." Is that not enough??

Fourth, we have waited for weeks to see Nasri in uniform on Arsenal.com with headlines saying that he has signed. We now have that, plus we got an interview from Wenger, plus an interview with the player. If things were not done and dusted, what is the point of doing this? Marseille was upset with him prematurely announcing his signing on his website a few weeks back. Do you think Arsenal would make the same mistake if it weren't true?

Yep. My hunch is that the deal was agreed to a while ago, but Nasri couldn't officially sign because of Marseille's desire to push off the sale to a new fiscal year. I think Nasri will officially sign his deal when he gets back from vacation.

    absolutely.

hleb was never going to be here next season, so what are you supposed to do? you get a much younger version, who is ultra talented.
    you move on, essentially.

If he shoots, he will be an improvement. We need a threat from the wings, and Hleb wasn't that. I like Hleb, but if I had a choice of keeping a proven wide midfielder who has loads of skill but can't score or getting a new promising wide midfielder who has loads of skill but is known to score, I would take the latter. Nasri has proven his ability on the international level and seems to fit the Arsenal system well. I think he will adjust just fine.

I've tried to use this function a couple times in the past few weeks -- was it moved? I've forgotten where to find it. Any help?

edit: Nevermind -- I found it.

Enough what? What is it you want me to say - oh year the Board is grewat the Board is godd they would never do anything to harm Arsenal no matter what they actually do...

That does appear to be what this goes back and that does appear to be the view of amnby here. At best they want to wait and see, and wait and see, and wait and see, before they will question the Board. Whoops, know wati and see again or wait until the next window ends then the next one and the next one.

Look you want to believe whatever the club or Board say - Fine. But if you want to attack me for beliveing otherwise at least make a case for what you believe besides just believing it "just beacause". You cannot try to discredit my views just beacuse you don't like them then expect me not to respond and back them again with soemm actual information that at the very least strenghtens my contention then say well so waht as though that refutes my view because this isn't a court of law - save the jury nullification for there...

i believe the "enough" means is the link provided enough evidence that Nasri, has in fact, signed.

It's one thing to think that perhaps things are going on behind the scenes like dividends for shares and the board aren't being entirely truthful with those items. It's entirely different to think that we haven't really signed a player when it's perfectly obvious that we have. Arsenal.com do not announce players signing when it's just rumors. Particularly since they're often accused of being labourously slow in such announcements. Question motives all you want, it's perfectly reasonable. However, you can't dispute facts. This signing is DONE. Any other assertion smacks of conspiracy theory.

But why would we have to sell Hleb to buy Nasri? Wenger's transfer kitty was supposed to be around 20M GBP, right? He spent 5M on Ramsey and is now reportedly spending about 15M on Nasri. So, based on the publicly-reported information, Wenger's had the fund for this signing since the beginning of the summer.

I do get your point that the official press release doesn't actually say Nasri has signed, and that it's different from the press releases for last summer's signings. But there's a pretty large gap in logic to conclude that Nasri hasn't been signed because we must first sell Hleb.

Out of curiosity, what do you think will happen with Nasri if we don't sell Hleb? If, for the sake of argument, Hleb were to fail his medical at Barca (or wherever), do you think we'd pull the Nasri photos off the official site and remove his name from the first team roster?

For someone who repeatedly touts that he has facts on his side, you're certainly ignoring a LOT of them to support your argument on Nasri's (lack of) signing.

As much as I want to glean some insight from your post, I find myself thrust into a state of lethargy at the length you go to reiterate your points. I would like to suggest a 'cliff notes' approach.

    "blah blah blah Board"
    "blah blah blah conspiracy theory"
    "blah blah dividends"
    I hope this helps, brother

In other news, I knew the signing was inevitable, but seeing the video was awesome. I'm really glad he signed, and not just for hlebs replacement, but I already transfered him on FIFA, and well that would have been egg on my face if he hadn't, huh?

In even more transfer related news

I hadn't heard anything in Given

And even MORE transfer news ( I know this is probably the wrong thread to talk about transfers.)
    http://www.skysports.com/story/0,19528,11670_3805395,00.html

Newcastle United winger Charles N'Zogbia has declared his interest in signing for Arsenal or Tottenham Hotspur.
It's a dream of mine to tour with Bruce Springsteen, but he hasn't asked........

Quality depth. I'd sign him. He's not the worst option out there.

I agree, he hasn't proven a lot but I think he has a lot of talent and could flourish for us.
