As a student finishing up my degree in advertising and being a soccer fanatic, man oh man give me a crap budget and I'd make something a 100% better then what Dick has to offer. Glad they're making the effort to make soccer specific commercials but please please let me do the next one. It's about time soccer became cool in America and I'll be the one to do it
"Wall bangers! Bang that wall!" Probably the only commercial I like on FSC is the Glidden/Home Depot commercial where it shows people "buying" sports athletes.
It warms my heart to see a Toby Charles reference I miss that guy. Even up until a few years ago he would do the Bundesliga highlight show on FSC that of course they no longer show... But anyway, hate is not a strong enough word for how I feel about that commercial and the sad thing is it's actually very accurate, you can't get anything but Galaxy kits in the Dick's here locally so it's not that the kid wanted that kit it's just that it's all Dick's sells.
It would have been a better commercial if they had used Conner from Starkick ... or maybe that kid that almost got runover in the street.
its a really poor commercial, lol... its stale, its dull, why are 3 players just sitting in a shoe store watching highlights? it just screams of lame... and Olsen's charisma really shines in the commercial also, lol
I agree with Barry. Thanks for the Toby Charles reference, Kenn. "I'll call my mom in India. She could talk to the kids!" So, she calls mom in India to say, "Hannah just scored her first goal!" Then, she holds up the phone to the field. Was grandma supposed to yell through the phone to congratulate Hannah? Does that constitute as "talking to the kids"? Inquiring minds want to know. The original KickMedic spot was absolutely awful. What happened? Did the portable teleprompter break, meaning that TT had to read off of a cue card next to the camera? Was there no other way to shoot that with TT memorizing bits and pieces? "It's Taylor-made to improve your game."
I thought this commercial was pretty clever the first time I saw it. The second time it came up I was like "Hey everyone, check this out, it's good!" ... after they played it the 10th time during the first game they aired it... it stopped being funny.
