According to Goff, Ruiz is being shopped around:

"Galaxy forward Carlos Ruiz is not hurt and not here at RFK.

Word from a high-placed source is that Ruiz is on the trade block and several scenarios have been discussed. Chivas USA was very interested, but needs to clear salary cap space in order to complete a deal.

Don't be surprised if something happens in the coming weeks."

I wanted to see what he could do as well, however our defense is such CRAP they need a quality defender......

Ruiz didnt make the trip... ? man what does that say right there? $600,000.00 watching the game in his home in L.A. while his team gets baked in DC.

Maybe L.A. didnt want to risk him being injured again then they wouldnt have any leverage to trade him..

Lalas and Co. need to make some changes... this last match was ugly was it not??

I doubt it is Chivas. They have no CBs to offer. Suarez = Xavier. And Shavar Thomas was let go to Chivas by the Galaxy.

I wouldn't expect to get a player for him. This is to open up a slot for one of the two defenders we have coming.

It could be for allocations or something that would allow us to sign somebody from outside MLS.

What defenders do we have coming? They truly need to get rid of Xavier

We need as many good forwards as we can get. I don't want to get used to seeing Gordon on the field all the time again. We tried that last year.

We could have used Ruiz today. 4 goals in one game for Guatemala and we didn't bring him?

Ruiz has only played 90 minutes with Donovan and Beckham. Trading him at this point is beyond stupid. There are plenty of players on the Galaxy that I would get rid of before Ruiz: Vagenas, Xavier, Vanney...Pires.

I'm not opposed to letting Ruiz go but I can't help but agree with this. We go into this season talking about the holy trinity of Becks, Landon, Ruiz and it seems silly to give up on that before we ever see it in action. Clearly Buddle's resurgence was not counted on but I feel like we can get the cap space roster spots we need by waiving other players on he roster... (Vanney/ Xavier/ Vagenas) comes to mind.

But, at least the FO seems to have a plan and isn't just reacting to everything.

We could certainly used the cap room... (not that it necessarily had to be him who gets traded)

it's not his fault he was injuried for the most part or on international duty. non the less with Buddle scooring from everywhere along with Donovan it might be a good way to "weaken the offense" for that luxury in order to get some help at the back...

IMO LA is in need of 2-3 defenders, 1 ball winning/keeping midfielder and a halfdecent goalie...

    btw

What's the deal with Vanney ?
Why is he not in the XI/Bench. Is he injuried, because they don't mention him in the injury report.

I'm not Pete's biggest fan, but some expirience and ballkeeping clearly would be of use in the middle of the park. On the other hand we have Mr Pires who last about a half evry now and then if we are lucky...

Even the so reliable Klein had now 2 bad games in a row ffs

I am with you Ben7 . How can it be Carlos Ruiz's fault today..

I think most of us are pissed today because the D and just about everything else that fell apart.

WHy the hell didnt he make the trip I wonder ???

First we get rid of Mathis without using him. Now RUIZ?

I can understand trading his spot for a foreign defender but...jeesh!

Trading Ruiz will be absolutely stupid. We have Pete, Vanney, and other garbage on the bench we can get rid of if we "need" the cap space. We need Ruiz. He has MLS playoff experience and finds a way to finish his chances. We can not rely on Buddle for the whole year, he can't do it all year. Do you guys really want our #2 striker to be Gordon?? Seriously? What happens if Buddle gets injured? Bye Bye season....

We need help defensively, that's for sure and getting rid of Ruiz is not the answer to that. Get rid of Pete and Vanney. That's a good chunk of money we can use on other players. Keep Ruiz!!!!!!!

Totally agree!! It's way too premature to give up on the fish right now. Our unstopable offense is one injury away from being stoppable. Having Ruiz here will make sure our offense doesn't stop.

But considering the fact that Ruiz didn't even make today's roster, I think it's more likely that he will be traded then that he will stay. I just hope dealing him will not only be to open cap space. As you've stated we have dead weight we could dump to get that accomplished.

I think that you may be right, Ruiz is immediately surplus if Lazarus Buddle is playing so well, but my question would be: Does the FO/Coaching staff want us to have three or four guys let go for one good defender, thus leaving a decent striker and one of our current defenders on the bench if he isn't going to play 4-4-2? Or does he want to ensure that there are maximum number of players available despite the fact that some of them may be rubbish, thus letting a good player go and getting one in? And which is best?

My instinct would be to lose Pires and Vanney, acquire a defender cheaply, and then see where that leaves us. I don't think we should gamble by waiving Ruiz, despite his injury, he will be a squad asset at worst when he's fully fit.

That Washingpost blog report about Ruiz may just be bullshit. The FO have been very tight lipped about what is really going on....Remember that report of Alexi and Ruud " this year or else"

If LD and Buddle are the two forwards and Ruiz the back up where in the Hell does that leave Allen Gordan ! ( but Allen , I liked your energy today, you are like the energizer bunny ! )

but really, Ruiz has not come on even as a substitute. I mean why not Ruiz today instead of Gordan ?? DID CARLOS RUIZ MISS THE FLIGHT ?

and another thought , I would like to see Beckham and LD midfielders and Ruiz and Buddle up top for just one dam game this season.

Who says the FO is looking for what we actually need? That's a risky assumption. :)

I'd be sorry to see Carlos go without really giving him a chance, but I can see the necessity. I'm not worried about Buddle, but I'd love to have Ruiz around for when Landon's missing. But his salary hit is a lot. We'll probably get too little for him because we're not playing it cool, as usual.

 on trading him to Chivas! That will come back to bite us, I guarantee you. The only justification I can see for that is because Lalas feels bad about moving Ruiz on so soon, and Carlos would obviously want to stay in LA, but man! That's not a good enough reason to send him to Chivas USA, IMO.

Several teams need a striker, and it would be great to get a DP slot for him. Probably dreaming, though there are several teams who don't seem to plan to use theirs anyway.

Why does everyone keep talking about trading Ruiz? The guy has not had the chance to play a full game since his injury. In addition, I would like to see him in a formation where Edson and Carlos play upfront while Landon gets dropped to the middle.

Also, we need to keep in mind that 2010 Qualifiers are under way, which means that Landon, and possibly Edson (yes I see it happening), will be called up for national duty. Then what? Do we fully, completely trust Gordon to become that special striker/forward? Not me!

The other thing that worries me is Becks, who still plays for England. Last time I heard that Capello has Becks in mind and plans for 2010 qualifying games.
