It's funny hearing "Clavijo" and "Svengali" in the same breath, though---or "jedi anything".

It's all about intriguing thread titles.

I don't think it's unintentional comedy - judging by some of his prior posts, the guy's trying to perfect the art of the wind-up.

Anyway, somehow Clavijo manages to stay around longer than Morrow.

FRISCO, Texas -- FC Dallas General Manager Michael Hitchcock has announced that Steve Morrow has been relieved of his duties as head coach, effective immediately. Marco Ferruzzi, in his fourth season as an assistant coach, will coach the team on an interim basis. Ferruzzi will make his debut against Real Salt Lake on Saturday, May 24 at Pizza Hut Park (7:30 p.m. CT).

Rumor has it (on TV, ESPN2 or FSC?) that D.C. may make a move for Bruce Arena to replace Soehn. Everyone but KSE gets it. They're still waiting for the record breaking anti-invincible season, they can tolerate a 10-match winless streak and missing the playoffs but try that for the whole year and you're probably gone (unless you're still under contract)?

Hunt Group gets it. They see a bad performance that embarrasses them they fire the coach. Stan Kroenke doesn't attend all of the games so he doesn't get embarrassed by 10 game winless streaks.

Anyway, flogged horse, new season and Clavijo is getting better results and play.

    Just my two-bits :

If the reason why Morrow was fired was over one game, they're ********ing idiots.

Reports from 3rd Degree (http://www.3rddegree.net/2008/05/120-fahrenheit-the-locker-room/) and other rumors circulating around here claim there were major locker room issues between Morrow and several players, many of whom were hispanic. But I'm just passing the rumors along, so take that to mean what you will.

just about worst record in the league, most losses in the league, fewest points in the leaque. neck and neck with San Jose an expansion team.

Where are all you big mouth "know-it-alls" now? Arguments instead of being right. I am right.

Except when you're wrong, like in the fact that Sigi Schmidt still isn't in the U.S. Soccer HoF.

I like how all of these people come in here and do nothing but spout pessimistic whining, and then when the rapids actually don't meet some difficult standard they come back and tell us how right they were all along.

Considering the shape of the west and some of the teams we've lost to at home this year, I wouldn't call it a "difficult standard."

You're right though, I don't know why this thread wasn't closed months ago to keep this guy from trolling.

You are so wrong but that is no surprise to long suffering Rapids fans! Our players are as limited as our coach. We have 2 players of real value, C. Gomez & Mastroeni and maybe 1 other with a future, Clark. In 2009, we will be entering our 14th straight re-building year!!!

That really is one of the better sports mysteries of the past 10 years. I would love to hear the conversations at the RFO and KSE about this.

Plush: Boss, it is time to make a change. I need your approval to fire Clavijo.

    KSE Boss: Who?

    Plush: Our coach...of the Rapids

KSE Boss: Why? You just resigned him to another year.

Plush: I know I did, but that was before he didn't win for 10 games and lost big time to a USL team, Seattle, 5-0.

KSE Boss: What is the USL?

Plush: The division below MLS. They aren't supposed to be able to beat us.

KSE Boss: There are other soccer teams in the US? I thought we were just fielding an exhibition team to sell more seats in that new stadium we put Arsenal's name all over. No?

Plush: No boss, we actually play in a league...against other teams on a regular basis. MLS is Major League Soccer. League...

KSE Boss: Ohh, maybe I should attend a game sometime and see what this soccer is all about. I don't care about the games so long as you sell tickets, dippin dots and stuffed monkeys dressed in the KSE DNA colors.

Plush: So it doesn't matter if we win? It doesn't matter if we are the worst team in the league? It doesn't matter if we're a laughing stock no one wants to play for?

KSE Boss: No. I don't care about that. Hey, Plush. Do you know when the Avs pre-season starts? When do our real teams start playing again?

The rapids have already sold their season ticket packages, they have the revenue from DSGP and they know how many people are going to show up on any given Saturday. They've crunched the numbers and they can afford to have some attendance drop off and still continue to be profitable.

In other words, don't expect to see a change before the end of the season. Sucks for the fans and team morale, though. Could have some impact on season ticket sales for next season if they don't terminate Clavijo right after the season ends.

    Sure hope I'm wrong.

You're right. KSE has seen the Rapids performing to budget and they're happy. Results on the field don't matter to them. KSE cares about Basketball and Hockey, not soccer. Heck, the DNC lease probably has them skipping around their offices.

What can we do now? Not go to games. Not buy their food. Not buy their beer with 500% markup. Not buy the merchandise in the stores.

    Well I'm with you now.

BTW. Lalas just got fired for a 7 game winless streak. Ruud left on his own terms, probably seeing the writing on the wall knowing that Lalas is the one who brought him there.

Clavijo loses 10 games quicker then anyone else in the league and still has a job.

    The difference? Ownership that cares.

What a great idea! Why hasn't Colorado thought of that???

The rapids have a few things working against them.

    1. the media- they have lost interest, almost completely.
    2. Location and the economy- if DSGP weren't so far away and gas wasn't so expensive, I'd be at every match.
    3. The team isn't winning.

IMHO, all three of these can be overcome with a new coach. The media likes covering a winner, people will spend money to go see a winner, and a few youth coaches I know could get more out of this team.
