Mark my words...no left back in the world can neutralize this man if he is at the level he has been in the Libertadores. Regardless of his ball skills, he is simply too fast. Fortunately for us, he has good (perhaps one day great) ball skills.

San Lorenzo, Estudiantes, and America have very good defenders yet he burned them time and time again.

To defend against Guerron you need to have a trailing marker in case he gets away - you also need to foul him smartly.

Wow I like this comment. I like this observation. You may be right about Guerron playing defense as he has shown he could do in Libertadores. I do have faith in Hurtado. He is reliable as long as the others are reliable.

I'm sure that against Colombia, we'll come out fully armed offensively, with Ambrossi[although defender he is highly offense oriented]Benitez, Bolanos, De Jesus and Caicedo, since I know Carlos Tenorio is going to take a beating against Argentina that even his ancestors will be aching, back to the Argentina game this is one awesome middle field we got here. I hope Basile plays with Mascherano and Veron because against those 2 DM Valencia and W Ayovi actually have a chance specially on the speed angle,Look Don't get me wrong deep down I know that theres about 85% chance that we will lose this game, but this line up just makes sense to me.

    CEVALLOS

    J. Campos------- Hurtado--------- Espinoza------- O. Dejesus

    ---------------------------- Castillo

    ------------- Valencia-------------------------Mendez

    --------------------------------------------------------Bolaños

    --------- Guerron

    -------------------------- Benitez

A solid backbone. Castillo the center midfield safety net. Valencia more offensively with respalod from Mendez. Bolaños thrown left to defend as well as attack on a lefty position while assisting benitez guerron and valencia.Guerron in the same place as liga providing overall field protection and attacking with valencia. Benitez i think is the best forward for this he can steal and hold the ball, while guerron and valencia have the speed to get in place. Bolanos and Mendez would provide safety as well as attacking options.

I really like this option... it looks great on paper, but not as easy as it may seem...the players need to have more playing time together...nevertheless, individually, this could be the best team we can put out on the field...our chances of getting some points in Argentina look better than ever...

game vs. Peru i liked the Benitez - Kaviedes combo...

    This is nice.

I like this alot aside from Campos. I would Stick Omar Dejesus on bottom right and on the left Ambrossi but I'm still shaky about that one. I can't think of anyone that could fill that left bottom spot. Omar Dejesus has to go on the bottom right.

Again, I really like this formation more than my own.

let's have more suggestions for the bottom left. I am 100% convinced that the bottom right can be covered by Omar Dejesus. He is fast, has excellent crosses and pushes forward at great speed. DLC was good at pushing forward.

The brilliant part of this formation is Sticking Castillo in the Center. Something like that crossed my mind but it was all so blurry.
Castillo if the perfect, I repeat the perfect player to handle that job!

    Brilliant, brilliant brilliant.

ps. As far as the players getting to "Know" eachother well that much is true when your a wanker of a player. These guys are pros and already know the routine.

Think about it. We have Mendez Castillo and Valencia excellent together.

We hyave Guerron (with KILLER crosses) paired with Bolanos who excute nicely.

We Have Benitez who has been a solo artist as far as I could remember him play. Assisted by Guerron who already prove to be an immaculate player (IMO) and who could deliver a prefect service, its only a matter of time before we score an early goal. This will be a GOLIADA. A nice pyramid of striking power is formed.

Last but not least, The defense. Uhmmm hmmm, This will be excellent if only we had a bottom left defender.

Yeah, Teno is good and all, but how many times are we gonna put him alone up front before we realize he's not very effective all by himself? Damnit.

    So which is true?

    my question exactly...
and if the whole team is going up to BA and they're not keeping players in Quito, then why the hell isn't Benitez starting up front with CTenorio???

Actually, I love it that Guerron is starting off iwth an experienced striker, C Tenorio. This looks good. C Tenorio will do damage and on the second half, Tenorio gets subed by Benitez. Forget about it.

I thought it should have been benitez and tenorio as forwards with guerron pairing up with valenica, mendez, castillo and ayovi (although i'd prefer bolanos)

This website says that the match is at 5:10 eastern time....

I also live in NYC area. i'm debating if I should order the match (directv) or go to a bar...I would like to watch the brasil paraquay match (game is played before the ecua match at 3:00)

As for the match itself I must say it has been fun reading everyone's opinions. I just hope guerron has one of his good days. some days he plays like a crack but other days he tends to not play very well. He does have a lot of potential but I don't think he is a complete player just yet. Hopefully, the spanish league could bring the best out of him.

I also hope Felipe Caicedo is finally used for once in any of these two match ups. If the coach wants to reserve beneitez for the colombia match Caicedo could be an ideal replacement for Tenorio who should do a lot of running playing as a lone striker. His speed and strength could come into play as the argentine defense starts to get tired in the second half.

A point would be excellent imagine a win....... than :D
