Yeah, not all of us have HD. Honestly, is the difference between HD and normal TV as big as this guy says it is?
I'll just say I really wish the USA -Argentina match was in HD just so I could have more easily told the two teams apart. Would have been much simpler with a little better resolution. But as you said, it's not the end of the world if it is SD only.
21 Man Roster http://www.ussoccer.com/articles/viewArticle.jsp_6684678.html Ching in, Wolff out, no Jozy.
What I WANT to see, based on the roster: -----------------------Howard-------------------- Cherundolo-----Gooch--------Boca------Pearce -----------------------Bradley-------------------- --Kljestan------------------------------Beasley-- ------------------------Adu----------------------- -------------Donovan--------------Ching-------- Subs: Edu, DeMerit & Lewis. Considering how well Ching & Donovan work together and know each other, I'd like to say them up front!! I'd give Dempsey some rest & have Kljestan start!! Unfortunately, I see BB going with EJ instead of Ching & Dempsey...who I really think is burned out and should be held out, until the second leg!! I just PRAY he doesn't use 2 DMs in this game!! LET'S GO FOR THE KILL, USA!!!!
Roster announced today: U.S. ROSTER BY POSITION* GOALKEEPERS (3): Dominic Cervi (out of contract: 0/0), Brad Guzan (Chivas USA: 0/0), Tim Howard (Everton FC: 3/2 SO) DEFENDERS (7): Carlos Bocanegra (out of contract: 11/1), Dan Califf (FC Midtjylland: 1/0), Steve Cherundolo (Hannover 96: 14:0), Jay DeMerit (Watford FC: 0/0), Frankie Hejduk (Columbus Crew: 11/1), Oguchi Onyewu (Standard de Liege: 7/0), Heath Pearce (Hansa Rostock: 0/0) MIDFIELDERS (7): Freddy Adu (SL Benfica: 0/0), DaMarcus Beasley (Glasgow Rangers: 14/4), Michael Bradley (SC Heerenveen: 0/0), Maurice Edu (Toronto FC: 0/0), Sacha Kljestan (Chivas USA: 0/0), Eddie Lewis (Derby County: 17/2), Pablo Mastroeni (Colorado Rapids: 9/0) FORWARDS (4): Brian Ching (Houston Dynamo: 6/2), Landon Donovan (Los Angeles Galaxy: 20/7), Clint Dempsey (Fulham FC: 7/0), Eddie Johnson (Fulham FC: 7/7)
What I'd like to see: -------------------Howard--------------------- -----Dolo-----Gooch----Demerit-----Lewis----- ---------------Edu-----Kljestan---------------- ----------------LD------Adu------------------- --------------Ching------EJ------------------- What we'll actually see: -------------------Howard--------------------- -----Dolo-----Gooch-----Boca-------Pearce---- ---------------Edu------Bradley--------------- -------LD-------------------------Beasley----- -------------Dempsey-----EJ------------------ Nothing against Pearce as I thought he played very well in the friendlies and favor him as our every-day starting LB going forward at least until Spector is healthy, I just like Lewis at LB specifically for this matchup. Barbados is going to be throwing 11 guys behind the ball and it will be useful to have our best set-piece taker and our best crosser of the ball on the field. And he won't be a defensive liability for this matchup.
Bet Johnson starts and gets a hat trick and everyone starts talking about him the way they talked about him after the 6-0 over Panama .
No, even if EJ starts and gets a hat trick people will not be impressed. They will be reminding us that it was only Barbados, he still sucks, and just got three lucky goals that Cooper or Jozy could have easily finished.
I expect Ching to start this match -- EJ doesn't look confident in crunch time and Ching is 1) experienced; 2) in sync with LD; and 3) in a rich vein of form. Ricardo Clark appears to have slipped down the depth chart and Josh Wolff, thankfully, off it.
I doubt Bradley would do this, but i'd put in Mastro for Bradley. If there's only one D-mid then it should be Mastro. Bradley is good, but doesn't have the experience yet. You may also see Dempsey for Kljestan. Dempsey would be a great 65th minute sub against a tired defense. So would Adu. I doubt/hope we need a defensive sub.
That's fine... leave Bradley in then. I didn't think he was horrible, but wasn't that impressed either by his last 3 games.
I think EJ have the opportunity to become the John Cena of the soccer world, someone people hate beyond their sport, yet still is the one they watch evey National match. I am hoping for an EJ 7 goals a laa Alfonso Alves, Hey Ibrahimovic a world class striker didn't score for his National team sweden fro 3 years until today, I am one of the few posters here who aren't so quick to kick our players to the curb.
I'm actually worried that EJ will start and score finally. He is our "lone striker" and should have so many opportunities against this team that a few are bound to go in. This would probably have Bradley praising how he scores when it counts or whatever bs.
So quick? It's not as if EJ has had a bad game or two. He has demonstrated game after game that he just does not have skill, aside from a decent shot.
What's the Barbadians' by far best chance to get any sort of result (including only losing by 1)? For the US to go down a man. What's the Barbadians' by far best chance for the US to go down a man? For Mastro to play. Conclusion: Pablo cannot play unless Edu and Bradley are injured.
