The road trip is over, and was rather abysmal. Saturday we have the Crew at CAB. They beat us 2-1 on the past road trip, with our only goal coming from the spot. Since then, they have struggled going 1-2-1. Both of their starting center backs left Saturday with injuries, so the possibility of them being able to play Saturday is in doubt. Brad Evans will also miss the game due to a red card, and there's a possibility, if he's called up, that Frankie Hejduk could miss the game, as the US WC Qualifier is the next day. So there's a possibility of 4 starters from their game Saturday missing the game this week.

    Game is at 7 pm.

Edit: They also have a game mid-week in Peoria, their Open Cup Qualifier, against Chicago.

OK...here is the Oz reference for the week:
THERE'S NO PLACE LIKE HOME! THERE'S NO PLACE LIKE HOME!
    :D

I think the combo of missing players for Columbus and being at home for the first time in months will bring a convincing win for us. Hopefully we don't have any new injuries and most if not all regulars are available.

Only if we can play with intensity for a full 90 minutes.

Well denizens of munchkinland :)p), it looks like we're off to see the Wizards and are bringing an undermanned team and 10 supporters to your house this weekend. Our lineup is decimated with injuries (Marshall, Ezra, Padula, Moffatt, Hernandez, other people that we've never heard of), suspensions (Evans), and national team callups (Hejduk), and we're in the middle of the longest scoreless streak in team history. Boy if that doesn't make for a good road trip, I don't know what does. Regardless, we'll be there in full voice, for better or for worse, on Saturday. Looking forward to it and the reserve game on Sunday.

Columbus 'till We Die (or they move us to Montreal),

    Hey guys,

It has been forever and a day since I've contributed to this forum, but I was curious if there are any festivities going on before the game (i.e. tailgating) and if there is a CAB-equivalent of the Cauldron for the games.

Any help would be appreciated. I get weekends off for my new job in Manhattan so I'm looking for some Saturday excursions...

    Thanks everybody, and GO WIZ!

Yes, there is a tailgate, look for the RV in the paved lot on the West side of the lot, and introduce yourself and you'll be our "friend" (long story).

Yes there is a Cauldron at CAB, it's behind the West goal. Check out the seating map on the Wizards site.

4 missing starters and playing at home did not help us against NE. So let's not get carried away with the pre-game confidence like we did for that game. On that note. Wizards win 2-0.

i've been looking forward to this game for a long time now, for numerous reason. it's been so long... it feels like we've had another off-season. it feels like the home opener ver. 2.0.
i really hope we play well and we actually do play "exciting, attacking soccer.' i have many friends coming to this game that don't ever make it out, some even from st. louis. right now, my only requirements for the game to start off well is to not see anyone in the starting lineup with names that start with 'p' or 'mor' and end with 'ore' or 'sink.'

EDIT: i also require good weather. so far, saturday is forecasted as partly cloudy and a high of 87. looks good on that front (no pun intended), although i guarantee that won't stay that way all week.

It does feel like another home opener. I am just as excited just because it has been so long and the weather is actually going to be nice this weekend.

We will probably appreciate the breeze out there instead of cursing it.

With that said, we need a win especially against a division opponent that looks to be headed towards the playoffs.

    Thanks Roush and kuhnscoot!

Maybe I've been hiding under a rock for too long (2 yrs.) ... I only recognize 10 players off of the current roster from MLSnet.com.

Good point...but I agree. I think we'll still win this one.

It really has been waaaaaay too long on the road, so it does kinda feel like a home "re-opener."

And thank goodness about the weather. I'll be at the game too. :D

probably like small sheets of paper with names scribbled on them. i don't think they're carved in stone anymore, especially not onalfo's.

i have to be honest, while i'm obviously a smart-ass, the post was really just an excuse to take a thinly veiled jab at onalfo and his ever changing starting lineup, which has yet to ever be the same as the game before (i think). i know we've had injuries, but let's get a little consistency here.

Columbus lost in the last USOC qualifier last night to Chicago 3-2 in extra time. Quite a few players that I'd expect to play this weekend were in their lineup and played in some form last night.

William Hesmer, Ryan Junge, Andy Iro, Danny O'Rourke, Jed Zayner (Andrew Peterson 95), Emmanuel Ekpo, Eddie Gaven (Duncan Oughton 75), Brian Carroll, Brad Evans (Robbie Rogers 56), Steven Lenhart (Jason Garey 66), Alejandro Moreno.

Not true. In fact I've been thinking of picking up Chance Myers for my MFLS fantasy team but I won't if he's lost his starting job.

An article on the game says Gaven was taken off the field on a stretcher with an ankle injury.

Here is the prelim injury report. Interesting that Chad Marshall is not even listed though he left the game early last week.

Our list is saying we are pretty healthy, so we'll see if that holds to this weekend.

well, he was on the bench last week at rsl and his "replacement" didn't hurt his (leathers) chances for starting again this week.

Yeah, I have a feeling both Leathers and Hohlbein will be getting the start this weekend over Myers and Wahl respectively.
