I ********ing love Holland, ever since World Cup 1998. I know I said this somewhere in here before, but I dont care about that match in the previous World Cup, it was a freak of nature:D

Superb performance, defence showed its weakness at times, especially in the second half, but Engelaar and De Jong were solid as D-mids..alot better then expected..and no need to mention the fullbacks going forward..your counter attacks are amazing!

Maybe we can meet in the final if we can keep up our performances as we both look the best so far.

And we have no Maniche, so you can win again for the first time in 20 years!:(:D

Is Van Persie fit for the match against France?..Kuyt played well and shouldnt be replaced imho, he helped boulha alot and played as a wingback at times tackling and marking well just like he does for Liverpool. 2 assists as well!

I imagine somewhere in this thread that someone has pointed out that the above is incorrect. The goal was definitely onside. It doesn't matter at all that he was knocked down and it doesn't matter at all if he were on or off the field. The only exception would be if he left the field with the referee's permission, e.g. for medical treatment or equipment repair.

Well, Put it this way watch the USA - Italy game again. And also the 2nd half og today's game. Note the shirt pulling. I guess that's the referee job.

This is a mans game FFS! Shirt pulling is just part of it. If you're not cheating you're not trying.

Are you bitter about the elbow to the face of one of the USMNT players by one of the Italian players? Flying elbows to the face is just part of the game.

I have pretty much watched every match since 1988/1990 and I can tell you the last time Italy lost by a margin of 3 goals was back in the 1970 final vs Brazil when they lost 4-1

Off the top of my head, I can't think of any other 3 goal or more losses.
This was a disasterous start, but hopefully they can bounce back with a team effort vs Romania and hope that France doesnt beat Holland on Friday.

Great scenerio after Friday's games would be:

    Holland 6
    Italy 3
    France 1
    Romania 1

    or

    Holland 4
    Italy 3
    France 2
    Romania 1

Then Italy will be back in the drivers seat for the final match vs France to advance.

It's about time! I wasn't born to see Johan Cryuff or the "Orange Clockwork" of 1974 and 1978. It was a shame that you had to face two host nations in a row for those World Cups.

Maybe winning another Euro is the spark you need.

Does anyone have a little issue with the fact that RVN missed 2 big chances when he should have scored?

He's certainly the best striker right now, and how unlike him that he did not finish those chances! I mean, I just could not believe what I saw. I was so sure there could be no way that he would not score in that situations. It was unbelievable.

Of course, he played well. But he's RVN and he should have gotten a hat-trick today.

Wow, what an impressive "resurrection" after the modest performance during the qualifiers!

Kudos on a big surprise and great performance! 3:0 against the World Champ is simply 'FANTASTIS'! ;)

Now you're the top favourites for winning the title.

PS: Sneijder & Van der Saar were outstanding! And Engelaar is a real "bear" (I've never seen such a tall midfielder in my life:)!

Julio Cruz had a worse night yesterday in a friendly against the US. He had four point blank shots saved by Tim Howard. Ruud put one in the net!

Julio Cruz can't even hope to hold a candle to RVN in the striking department. It is an insult to compare to RVN to compare him to Cruz.

Watched the game and I must say I was fairly impressed because I though Italy would win. I was hoping for a Dutch win, but did not expect such a good result.

My biggest impression however is how good Engelaar and de Jong did in central midfield. I was sitting there at the beginning of the match wondering if these two defensive midfielders would be able to cope, yet they did much more than that.

Van Bronckhorst was on another planet, and Sneijder also enjoyed a great game. Van der Sar should be the keeper of the tournament if he keeps going like this.

    Congrads.

    Hup Nederland!
