Goff is reporting the same thing - who knows if it is the same source but this seems pretty credible

BTW - I will also say this. I think it is ridiculous that DC will get as much to improve their product on the field from the sale of Perkins as NYRB will get from the sale of Altidore when the transfer fee is 13x as much.

    Thats MLS.

Anyway, on one hand I am sorry to see him go. He is one of my favs. On the other hand, we were all pretty sure he would be going, so the sooner the better so we can get on with building the team.

    And 10 mill. Wow.

It seems that he is likely joining Villareal now....http://www.marca.com/edicion/marca/futbol/1a_division/villarreal/es/desarrollo/1131118.html

Unfortunately, at 10M, he seems quite overpriced....for that price we could get Ben Arfa who will be a world star within a couple of years.

In fact, we got Rossi for same price tag. He seems to me a much more complete player and a wonderful talent, better than Jozy at least....

That being said: hope your guy proves me wrong....
we can't afford to make 10M mistakes!

At least he's only 18 so he can only improve.

It seems like Jozy only has one thing on his mind and that's going to Europe. He's only giving 50% - 60% on the field right now, eventhough he's our leading goal scorer. It's time to let him go and rebuild our offense, so we'll be ready for the playoffs.

If true not good for us. Will be even harder to score now. The season has all the makings of a disaster waiting to unfold.

Anybody know where Recreativo Huelva stands in the La Liga? It may not be bad move if he can play with them. Villareal seems too good for him at this point in his career.

Also, anybody know why FSC doesn't show La Liga games? I want to watch my Jozy grow...

The rights for La Liga games are currently held by GolTv. Check you local cable system system to see if it is offered. I get it here in Bergen County via Cablevision.

Ummm I don't know how you can watch him play and say that. He looks the same as he always does to me.

I agree with the rest though.... Making millions playing for a good club in front of passionate fans or pullin down a buck an a quarter for Red Bull in the Meadowlands. Most of us would have our minds on the Tapas I am sure.

I wonder if this increases the value of my Altidore jersey... :p all the best luck to Jozy and him and the other bright young American footballers starting a new era of American footy.

yeah hopefully that 10 mil can somehow be used to attract a good DP (henry?) next year. i still think we have a solid team especially if we sign Rojas, but being in the Eastern Conference is not gonna help our fight.

    Does it work like that???

If they sold him for 8, what does RB get in return?

Shame for him the loan isn't to Getafe. Recre had a neat striker, Ikechukwu Uche, up until last season, who actually reminded me of Altidore (albeit further along in his development, of course) when I watched him against Real Madrid in the 2006-2007 season. He'd have been good to learn from; but he's at Getafe now.

Villareal loaned out Marco Ruben to Recre this year as well; he's done OK.

Ives is wrong about the window...

The FIFA transfer window is open (opened June 1). The player registration date is July 1 (the date a player can play for his new club) .

The hold up in the deal is the MLS transfer window (June 15 - August 15). Once June 15 comes, the deal will be signed and the cash will be wired.

A $500k allocation - thats it. RB gets 2/3s of the transfer value but onyl $500k of it can be used as allocation money. The remainder can be used for soccer operations however the club sees fit - youth clubs, training facilities, staff, etc.

My prediction on the outcome from the Jozy Allocation...

I'm thinking that the trade of Phelan to the Revs is the first step towards NY ending up with Conde. TFC trades McBride to Chicago and TFC ends up with the allocation money that NY gets when Altidore is shipped to Spain in exchange for Conde. TFC then uses that money for another englishman or someone that Carver is familiar with, which has been TFCs plan from the start. $500K allocation will go towards getting a defender to challenge Valez for a starting spot.

    Just my guess.

So does that mean we've seen him play his last game for us then?
