...Because only the chosen few have HDnet and I don't want the other thread to get cluttered. As of now, 1906 Ultras are watching (hopefully on the big screen) at Pig & Whistle in San Francisco.
Stickied for greater visibility -- as sko said, post your viewing party stuff here and not in the pre-game thread.
I watched the last HDNet game at the downtown Brit. There were a handful of others in attendance and I think some more fans out back. It's a nice establishment.
Although I don't have a 72inch HDTV , the benefit of watching the HDNet broadcast in the comfort of one's own home can't be emphasized enough! GO SAN JOSE EARTHQUAKES!!! -G
72 inch..lmao thank god i have rich freinds, were throwing a party for that game, he has like a theater size screen in his backhouse(or den or whatever you wanna call it)
You both are fortunate. The 26" HDTV that I bought about 2 1/2 years ago is still my only HDTV, and unlike the 1080p maximum resolution that yours likely have, mine only has a maximum resolution of 1080i. GO SAN JOSE EARTHQUAKES!!! -G
Yo, BEERKING! Tom, I'm going to be in Paradise over this weekend - which means, if I'm going to (steal a few hours from cleaning up my M-I-L's house and) find an HDnet broadcast anywhere, its in a sports bar in Chico. Does Madison Bear Garden have HDnet? Does anywhere else? Can you direct me to such a watering hole for the game? DougO
Goodsport, your 26'' HDtv is probably a better experience to watch than my 54'' giganto Mitsubishi from the year 1999. Everything is fuzzy.
Sorry to hear about the fuzziness. But fear not: you can still watch HD programming on your 54'' giganto Mitsubishi from the year 1999, just as long as it has an S-video input... and if your TV is from 1999, then it probably should. Just plug the HD-DVR into your TV via an S-video cable, drop the HD-DVR's resolution from 1080i to 480i, set it to display on "4:3 letterbox" format (as opposed to "4:3 pan & scan" format) and you're set. Granted, the HD broadcasts won't look as colorful and crisp as it would on a true HDTV, but at least you'll be able to watch it in the first place - and it'll at least look DVD-quality good and have Dolby sound. That's how my non-HD Sony 54" (either from 1999 or 2000) bigscreen is set up. While I definitely watch all of my 16:9 HD sports and shows on the 26" HDTV, I watch the 4:3 (both the SD and the upconverted HD) sports and shows on either TV. GO SAN JOSE EARTHQUAKES!!! -G
Haha, yeah it would be useless anyway as far as HD-quality goes. The TV is soooo sh1tty. But if I had the option of getting HDNet (which I don't, because I have stupid Comcast) that's probably what I would do.
Stop bragging people. I will have to watch it on the six-inch wide media viewer courtesy of mlsnet. That is, if it is broadcast on mlsnet.
Life is hard enough. This is too much.* *especially with some of our [ack] away performances this year
FYI, The Boardwalk in Los Altos on El Camino Real between Rengstorff and San Antonio has HDNet and I will be catching the game there. I may be the only one there interested, but I have a great relationship with the staff there, so I am very comfortable saying I'll be able to get at least one HD-tv to watch it on. Cheers, Battch GO QUAKES!!!
It's too bad about the lack of HDNet. However, you can still watch the other HD channels that way on your TV. Even at a reduced resolution to 480i, ESPN2-HD is still better than ESPN2 and CSNBA-HD is still better than CSNBA, after all. GO SAN JOSE EARTHQUAKES!!! -G
You probably won't be able to see the HDNet broadcast since like the MLS Direct Kick Package, MLSLIVE.tv doesn't broadcast the nationally-telecast games. You'll likely be able to watch the ClbSN MLS Direct Kick Package broadcast, though. But best of all, you'll be able to watch it surrounded by the beautiful Japanese environment. GO SAN JOSE EARTHQUAKES!!! -G
That is why I hate MLSLIVE.tv and I would not give them money any more. I can understand that they don't show live games being broadcasted nationally, but the full game archives too? That is nonsense. When I paid for the UEFA online videos (just a few bucks a month and I only subscribed during the Champions League time), I can watch all live games and archive games any time on any computer. It was really convenient. Those games were shown on ESPN as well. Right now, with MLSLIVE.tv, I can only watch one or two games each week and who cares about those other teams? I want my Quakes!
I will try and catch a bit of it at the local Circuit City or Best Buy this go around unless anyone knows a pub I could catch it on that has HDnet in the Santa Cruz area. Next time there is an HDNet game QuakeBabe or someone else with HDTV and a large screen should have a BigSoccer Quakes viewing party.
I've been seriously contemplating a move to comcast since directtv are essentially forcing me to move to their proprietary DVR box, instead of the Tivo box I like (and paid a bunch for, not so long ago), in order to get ABC, NBC, CBS & FOX in HD...but then I'd have to give up HDNet... ...comcast had a teaser rate combining phone, internet and tv into "one low price", which sounded good, but I don't know... ...last time I made a move my blazing internet speed slowed to a crawl... ...tough decisions!
NOOO! I have triple play right now. It ain't worth it. No HDnet, no Setanta, the Spanish-language package (for FSE and ESPND) is a whopping $16 a month. Stick w/ directv.
his is digital HD or someshit, and literaly its like a couple of feet smaller (ok like...56 feet smaller) than a theater screen.. still a big ********ing screen
