I loved the blue X-Box t-shirt. Great, great looking T-Shirt.

No Double-XL on the sweat shirt, huge oversight there, because like a lot of people, I like to "swim" in a sweat shirt and prefer oversized fit. X-L had a decent fit, but knowing the damn things shrink 10%, I avoided buying one.

Those were the ugliest pennants I've ever seen.

The hat was "meh" and I gave it a pass.

My new Sounders license plate cover rocks.

There was nobody at all in the store when I went in during the day, and staff was courteous and nice.

Overall, not a bad start on the merchandise front, mainly because that blue t-shirt looks really, really good, and was the real winner out of all the stuff that came out on Saturday. If we make a blue version of our kit, I am buying it, that shade of blue just really pops with our logo.

The license plate frame covers over the letters slightly (maybe 1/2"). I doubt this is a legal problem, but usually these things don't cover the letters at all.

It will depend on the car.

    Lowered import = ticket
Soccer mom van = no ticket

The cops use pretty much the same rules for no front plate.

AARrrrrgg.. maybe I should take it off? I drive a sport coupe. Does the frame cover up other people's plates?

I wish they were available now. I don't live anywhere near Seattle, have no connections to the city, having never been there, but want one because I don't mind green and I have an Xbox 360.

It's one of the few jerseys I could wear here at work that would get some "what's that from" questions from co-workers who know nothing about soccer.

I got a lot of questions yesterday at work when people would see the logo on the front of my sweatshirt. Living near alot of military people in the kitsap peninsula some people didn't even realize there was professional soccer around here. After I told them they seemed pretty excited.

    Yes sir it is.

I was wondering guys, is the team store in Qwest field open to the public yet. I'm going up there in August to buy this flag.

I was wondering guys, is the team store in Qwest field open to the public yet.

It is open to the public, and has fairly generous hours of operation, including open on Sunday (at least it was last Sunday, I went back the day after the match to size up a sweat shirt).

It is ridiculously overstaffed during Mariner games. Because they anticipate a wave of customers after the game lets out, during the game, there are four sales staff standing around in a completely empty store.

Still not a lot of Sounders merchandise to choose from just yet, but enough that it is worth a visit. There will likely be more by the time August rolls around.

Thank you, Sir! Good FYI. Check out the store before a Mariners/Orioles game.

I think that putting the American flag on the jersey sleeve is really cool, and a real plus for international tours, but I have to wonder why Seattle is the first team in MLS to do it? It may not make it on the jersey, and it already didn't make it on the tee shirt they're selling.

At the risk of being the disliked voice of dissent, the ripple in the serene pond of SSFC gear admiration, I think it's all boring crap. Until those nice jerseys come online I won't be shelling out a penny. And when it becomes an option I too will be getting the "Henry - 14" on the back.

The next best thing will be a sweet scarf.

    'mon tha 'ders!

I wonder, does the current Sounders kit have a flag on it?

(Across the border, the Whitecaps have the Maple Leaf on the sides of their jerseys - and not-very-surprisingly, the Impact sidestep that cultural minefield by foregoing both the maple leaf and fleur-de-lys - but I don't know if the 'Caps would want to slap a Canadian flag onto a potential MLS kit...)

I may be mistaken but the only team in Mexico to have the Mexican flag is Necaxa, right?

It is a Teamgeist but I don't know if it's a Teamgeist II. Look at the bottom of the ball under the MLS logo. It would be interesting to see what the other side looks like.

With our especially pointy logo, those earrings look like they'd be painful.

I was looking at the jersey pics and I finally realized why the sleeve flag has been irking me: it's on the left sleeve instead of the right as in Army uniforms, so it looked normal as opposed to "backwards" (with the star field in the upper right quadrant). I'm kind of wondering if that will hold, since the left sleeve is technically a breach of flag-display etiquette.

(And no, I don't care, but you just know someone out there will and it will take all of twenty-four seconds for our first "Seattle Sounders FC hates America" talk-radio screed.)

Wait, what exactly makes it "wrong" ?? I'm looking... and the blue is in the top left when looking at that sleeve. Even if the sleeve is too big and rolls over to front or back.. the flag would still be properly displayed to onlookers.
Wait, I think I get it... the army somehow decided that flags are oriented according to yourself, not the ones who would be viewing it. Which, in my Marine opinion, is typically silly. ;)

If we really want to be strict: "The flag should never be used as wearing apparel."

Aha! Actually, found a reference specifically for flags on sleeves.

Apparantly, the idea is that the flag should always be seen as "advancing" and not "retreating" in relation to the heart. Thus, when worn on the right sleeve... it looks queer. In conclusion, the Army is silly. =x ;-) And thus, both the Army and the Seattle Sounders are correct.
