David Suazo isn't gong to play for upcoming WCQ games?

I think it was 4-4-2 or 4-4-1-1. Radz and Friend were both starting.

Canada's formation as far as I could tell.

    Onstad
    Diesel Serioux Hastings Klukowski

    Radz Hutch The Guz Issey

    De Ro

    Friend.

Lots of overlapping play and Radz and Issey switched sides a couple of times in the 1st half.

He is quite good offensively, considering he's naturally a defensive midfielder it is definitely a bonus.

He really tore apart the rest of the region in last Summer's Gold Cup. Actually our Midfield is really strong for our region with most of our key midfielders playing important roles on teams throughout Europe. The most noteworthy that isn't (Dwayne de Rosario) has been among the elite players in the MLS for years.

I was impressed that Canada didn't seem to miss a beat while subbing out Radzinski, DeGuzman and Hutchinson. We really need to get Nsaliwa's passport problems sorted out. We may be 15 deep...

Who knows. The fact that he's only played 35 times in the 9 years since his first cap is an example of just how rarely he actually plays for the team.

The fact that he played tonight largely implies that his passport issues have been sorted out.

I am not to familiar with Diesel? Is that his real last name?

Diesel is the nickname given to Paul Stalteri.

Which brings up another question. Where is Stalteri going to play next year? Does Fulham make a move to keep him at Craven Cottage or does Tottenham keep him buried deep on it's bench?

Well seems to me the move to Fulham will not happen they got RB for next Mendy I believe was the name. I think Stalteri could make a move Aston Villa who are in need of a RB, or maybe the promoted teams why not. De Guzman should make a move to England that could be a good spot for him or stay in Spain. Maybe even Italy could be good.

Tks to jpg75 at Vs for news (from DM conference call) to clear up some questions here.

    - Tam is not eligible to play during official matches. Situation is not resolved, but DM wanted to get him back in mixing with the team. He can play in friendlies however and will see PT during these games against BRA and PAN.

Well played Canada! The team can hold their heads high after that.

TFC rocks :D ! If I understand your question correctly, no, the Canada/Brazil game was in Seattle.

    -----

Is it just me or did that game go by really quick? I found it EXTREMELY entertaining. I always root for Brazil (because sadly Canada isn't in many(any) major tourneys. So watching my two favourite teams was pretty cool

However, worry not, I was fully cheering for Canada tonight :) . And I really loved the game.

I too was kind of "dreading" a blowout, but Canada did very well.

Anyone know the qualifier dates coming up?

    TFC! Canada!

Unless De Guzman is moving to an EPL team that will actually play the ball on the ground, I'd rather he stay in Spain. Maybe a couple of the top tier teams iin Spain would pursue him, I want to see him in CL or UEFA cup. Atiba Hutchinson on the other hand needs to go to a top league soon. I wouldn't mind him at a team like Everton, they play good football and are going to be in the UEFA cup and just lost Lee Carsley, Hutchinson could do the defensive job for them.

Just returned home from the match. Canada played brilliantly in some spells - had great opportunities to take the lead at 1-1. Issey should have finished the breakaway, but the keeper came out well.

DeGuzman was great despite the backpass. Very impressed. Friend was outstanding in the first half, but wasn't quite the same in the second.

The formation looked more like a 4-2-3-1, the outside mids were pushed up very high.

Delighted to hear that Canada acquitted themselves so well - shem they couldn't have gotten a draw out of it, though.

However, if they can play that well against Brazil, they will have no excuses when it comes to the CONCACAF qualification rounds!

    Canada for 2010! Woo!

(And I would note the irony if it turned out that Canada make it to the WC, but Owen Hargreaves' England don't...)

Game is on Sportsnet at 10 am EST today.

Edit...seems that it is on the digital sportsnets channels only in Saskatoon . Likely the same way across the country.

Agree with Cheeta that it was nice that our midfield was subbed out and we didn't miss too much of a beat. I had just finished saying that Peters and Bernier shouldn't be on the pitch when Bernier almost scored (way to prove me wrong boys).

Man that goal from De Guzman was a cracker!

add mckenna, hume, imhof and brennan to the team and they look even better.

our weakness is goal..no question...pat should have had at least one of the two other goals. (besides the break away)...i wish the americans could lend us one of theirs...they seem to have quality in net in spades.

canada's excuse will be the officiating in CONCACAF during qualifying...you have to factor at least one called back goal and one PK from a ridiculous dive per game.

Sutton should of started he has had an unbelievable season for TFC so far and even before his concussion last year was playing great.

Canada outplayed Brazil for large stretches and should of won but you can't make mistakes and need to take every chance vs Brazil to win otherwise you pay.

Still there is no doubt that Canada in the last couple of years have really made huge strides in the National team despite the CSA not lifting a finger to help them. They should qualify for the World Cup the only question is the corrupt concacaf refs who flagrantly screw us. The question is not can we beat the opposition including Mexico and the States. That's not for debate we can beat them and can outplay them both, the problem is can we beat them and the ref at the same time. We have to be realistic it's not coincidence what happens to us every Qualifying round or Finals tournament it's happened before and it will happen again. Just hopefully we can over come it this time.

CONCACAF refs are awful! They love to screw Canada. I hope CSA makes a compliant to CONCACAF and FIFA officials about this.
