I hope those Columbus fans get banned from the stadium. And apologies to the Revolution for having to hear thinngs like that. Just a bunch of PU**ies with beer, think their tough. Again I hope New England stresses this issue on Garber and Concacaf.
It's probably not on Dube to bring to anyone's attention. For all we know maybe he didn't hear it. The video is out there to be shown to someone of note so lets hope that something is done about what happens, I just wouldn't expect a minnimum wage rookie to make a big stink about anything. Even something that bad.
It would seem that Shalrie Joseph probably heard it based on his reaction. Fans chant all the time and he doesn't respond the way he did. He obviously heard something he strongly disapproved of. I will be somewhat surprised if Joseph is punished for his actions if the disciplinary committee is made aware of the whole situation; however, on the other hand, I wouldn't be suprised at all at this point. Hopefully we find out soon.
https://www.bigsoccer.com/forum/showpost.php?p=14702516&postcount=145 this guy admits that he threw beer on the field and that he told Dube to go back to africa. then he tried to justify it and say that he would tell a Scot the same thing. hahahahahahha what a racist pukebag.
Let's not paint all Crew fans with the racist label because of the actions of a few morons(or maybe just one). Most of the posts I've seen show they are as appalled by this jack*ss as any of us.
Not a Rev fan, but I did save the youtube of someone shouting and calling Shalrie the n-word so that when it gets taken down by the powers that be, there is still proof of it.
Thanks, Natty I think we're all interested to see what really comes of this. I agree with KAT, we definitely shouldn't start stereotyping all Crew fans and grouping them with this nutjob on the video. It's not fair and is very much the same type of behavior that we are trying to combat. The bottom line is, something HAS to be done about it.
I am a Crew fan, and as far as i can tell... i am the first one to mention what was said in that video and that action should be taken. the supporters group is already working on identifying the guy (and have a good idea from what i can tell) and he will be taken care of shortly. as a Crew fan and citizen of Columbus i am ashamed. and think i can speak for all Crew fans when i say i'm sorry it happened. unfortunately these things happen (every where) and we can't stop it completely. however, when we get a chance like this where the person can be identified we can punish them and make it known that it is not to be tolerated. all of us can do this. if you're at a stadium and someone is saying or doing something that has no business being said or done in the stadium, have the courage to confront them. not everything gets caught on video, its up to us to stomp this stuff out.
We all knew a while ago that CBus fans cultivate their racist from a young age... We'll never forget the little hooligans in training that called Monty a Mexican....and gave us all a running joke that will probably never end!
This has gotten too much attention for MLS not to do something. I'm sure most of the C-Bus fans are nice, but I personally feel a one-match ban for all fans is the way to get the message across. Racism should and will not be tolerated in MLS, and with the publicity this issue has gotten, I hope that the MLS suits are working on it right now.
Monty's not Mexican? No wonder that chimichanga recipie he gave me sucked. I need that vihuela back, cabron!
they should do like they do in europe after really nasty incidents. make the club play a few home games in an empty stadium.... oh wait
unfortunately, they won't be here til 9/27, but we'll have to make sure we greet their traveling fans appropriately have a few of us stand like ushers at the top of their section saying "please leave your burning crosses and white hoods here. no burning crosses or white hoods in the section" predecorate their section with a giant banner that says "bigot seating" we can sing DK's "nazi punks ******** off"
The anti-racist sentiment is nice, but I think we are being a bit nieve/idealistic about this. Banning all fans from a game because one or two made a racist slur seems a bit disproportionate. There is an enormous difference between a couple of individuals and organized activity. Everyone on these boards has been to non-soccer sporting events and heard racist, misogynestic, anti-semtic, etc...comments. Punishing the group for the actions of the few is called pledging, not capitalism. Of course I am the one who supports banning alcohol (which likely would have prevented any of this), so take whatever I say with a grain of salt. IT was a very well referred game though.
Blanco is a cheating, lying, diving scumbag, and I will call him that, but I will not call him a cheating, lying, diving, Mexican scumbag, because his nationality has nothing to do with him being a cheating, lying, diving scumbag. Cheating, lying, diving scumbags come in all opposing team jersey colors, regardless of nationality.
:embarassed: Playing off the "regardless of nationality" bit. And he wasn't Columbian, too. He played for Dallas. Of course he cheated, lied, and dived.
