On May 20, Al Nassr will face Real Madrid in Riyadh, King Fahd Stadium. Majed Abdullah will play as it is his retiring festival game. Many well known Saudi players and even other arabs might play with Al Nassr. I've heard Nashat Akram from Iraq has been invited to play. I'll bring more news and information later on.
The game is on Tuesday, some of the Saudi NT players will play, like Abdoh Otaif. Also two non-Saudi players, Waleed Abdurubh from Egypt, and Nashat Akram from Iraq have been invited to play. Majed Abdullah will play the last 15 minutes in the first half.
The game ended 4-1 for Nasr. Malek Mouath scored two goals, Nashat Akram one goal, and Saud Kariri one goal. While Robben scored for Real Madrid. Actually both Mohamed Deayea and Khaled Aziz played.
Next Monday we will see Ittihad x Barcelona. I have a feeling Itti will lose, Barcelona don't seem to take testimonial games easily. The game is for the retirement of Hamzah Idrees. At least Hamzah could play for 30 minutes.
hello to everybody, i didn't even know this section existed in bigsoccer. its nice to see a forum for saudi football in english. after watching this match, i realized matches like these give a great opportunity for the footballers in GCC to display their talent. i honestly feel, we have come a very long way over the past couple of decades. i remember the times when most of the players literally used to be ball-hogs, trying to reach the opposition goal by themselves. but, finally, theyve gotten a hang of the tactics part of the game. and i can only see them going uphill from here. plus, the expansion of the youth and scouting system has led to the discovery of many players with overwhelming talent. now, we just have to wait for the first one to make a mark on the european stage. hopefully that will be sooner than later.
Fahad Al Geshyan was the first Saudi Player to play in Europe. Second was Sami Al Jaber. Though Nawaf Al Tumyat, Turki Suwleh and Yasser Al Gahthani also tried but in vain.
fahad al-ghesheyan barely played for az alkmaar and sami al-jaber spent 8 months at wolverhampton. i dont think any of them scored any goals or made any kind of a 'mark' per se. the only gcc player to stay long enough in europe is ali al-habsi (the national goalkeeper for oman), he has been in bolton wanderers for around 3 years now, but, only played 10 games or so.
