I agree with mbar. Besides, if we're stuck in line at the front gate or concessions it gives us more time to get to our seats. The "LA crowd" tends to be fashionably late at every event, which I don't get. Ambassadors, keep up the good work.

I agree with the FIRECRAP, I mean FIREWORKS! I noticed it scares the kids and some elderly people at the games. Besides I don't want to breathe in the smoke after they go off and it takes about 10-15 minutes for the fumes to go away. If they want to do the fireworks, do it outside the parking lot, where the fumes won't be inhaled by the people in the stadium (fans, players, staff, ambassadors). There's got to be some carcinogenic effects breathing in that stuff. Thanks ambassadors!!!!

Are you serious? We have bigger things to worry about. If you're afraid people are going ot get scared becuase of them, then stand on your bench or seat and warn everyone. I can understand breathing in the smoke but you're in Carson which is next to LA. You should be wearing a mask all day every day.

I have no problem with them, just fix the things that NEED to be fixed.

My point was that it was unnecessary and the money for FIRECRAP could be used for something else, like better food or more giveaways for us, the fellow fans.

Probably violates the hell out of the current contract with the concesionaire, but how about a small Farmer's Market in one of the parking lots before the game? It would give people an excuse to show up early.

OK, I get it. Good point. I say though, that fireworks are on the bottom of the list to fix. Until getting rid of them to helps other problems be fixed, just let them be, but when we have to then go for it.

Personally, keep the fireworks. I brought two soccer newbie's to the game and we were walking through the parking lot into the stadium as they went off. With the twilight and the anthem going off in the background, it was kind of surreal. One of em even said "they dont do that ish in baseball". I think it adds a lot of positivity. Im for it.

As for the singers they have, im not down. They always gotta put some personal twist on it. I say just put the anthem on (just the music) and let the crowd sing it. I know the supporters groups would lead and it would be amazing!! Just listen to how good it sounds when we sing it at the world cup.

Especially if we're trying to promote an involved crowd and singing atmosphere, this is a great way to socialize people to the idea of that dream...Just my opinion though...anyone with me??

Given the incidents at each of the past 3 derbies [home and away] as well as what happened in Houston over the weekend, is there any way we can declare Legion to be persona non grata and not sell them group tickets for derbies determined to be Galaxy home games?

Problem is I'm sure they are given tickets to CUSA matches to create "atmosphere". Legion doesn't care enough about CUSA to buy tickets....

    Steve's,

Any word on changing the structure of the national anthem presentation?? I know its not #1 on the priority list, but i think it's something worth pursuing (see my previous post)...

    Thanks!

Steve R. and I had our meeting with the HDC Management staff yesterday. We met with the GM, the Assistant GM, the Director of Operations, the Director of Security, the Director of Parking, the Head Chef for Levy, and the Manager of Levy Operations for the HDC. The main item that I can report on is that the HDC Management takes the fan experience and our input very seriously. ALL in attendance want improvement. While we covered many subjects the other items I can report on are:
    1) The Director of Concessions at the HDC was not present because they are being replaced!
    2)
The HDC has obtained permission for, and has ordered from, the City of Carson the installation of manual override control of the traffic lights around the HDC. This will certainly help create much better traffic control to and from the Stadium. Amazing fact that this was a real battle as was expressly not permitted in the original HDC use permit!
    3) Security personnel are being brought "in house". In the past it appears that much of the Security staffing was done on an outside vendor temp basis so many of the security personnel have been there only for one game. Having the same staff for each game will make for a much better environment.
    4) Concession staffing is being bolstered by the addition of many experienced staffers from other local venues such as Staples Center.
    5) The HDC will have a member of their Management Staff attend the monthly meetings that we have with the Galaxy FO.

    Positive change is coming!

See you at the Game on Saturday!

We are very thankful for your efforts! The one part I thought was hilarious was "Head Chef for Levy". What does that entail? Turn on a micro?

It is good news that they will be bringing in experienced from other local venues. This should help out. Thanks again for being our gateway to an out of this world experience! (wow that sounded a tad cheesy but nonetheless thanks)

I like #3 on your list. It always seems that the majority of HDC employees (be them security, consessions, whatever) are attending their first ever event at the HDC. Just having employees that have the opportunity to improve from game to game should make a difference.

I mean, I'm certainly better at something the 5th time I do something as opposed to the 1st.

In answer to your question, the Head Chef is in charge of the stadium club and catering. If you have ever had the opportunity to sample Chef Michaels food you would be very impressed. Very talented person.

Thanks to The Steves™ for their work in their efforts to upgrade the "fan experience" for home games at the HDC. Also, thanks to the BigSoccer patrons who have joined in with constructive suggestions in this thread and joining in the process to help everyone out.

Lastly, thanks to Landon Donovan. It's much easier to suggest upgrades when the team kicks ass on the field and his contribution has been much appreciated by... umm... all of us. No wonder he's the LARS Player Of The Year last season.

If the chef is good, why can't he spread his talent to the concession stands? Or, is AEG only concerned about the chosen people being able to eat good and to he*l with the rest?

A couple of interesting things that we found out in our meeting.

    1. Other than the Goalie grill, no other area has food preperation at them. All food is prepared in the kitchens and than brought up to the snack stands.

    2. There is a County Health ordeniance that will not allow them to serve right off the grill. Take in point the BBQ in the plaza. They food must be cooked and taken elsewhere to be "packaged".

    3. We did bring up the idea of HDC buying a couple of the new carts that are available, as shown on Drew careys Show, to prepare BWHD's that will comply with the Health Dept. They can in turn lease these to the vendors and thus slove the massive problem of the BWHD.

This is the best idea I've heard yet.

    :)

A little bit of blue sky here, but are these carts multi-purpose? There are some other street food items, like the chilli-pepper mango-guy, that might be appealing to our crowd as well. Or maybe that's just me.

That's good to know. It would be sad if the Head Chef's greatest achievement was "Nachos Camachos" :D

    Steves:

However this turns out, thanks for all the hard work. It does make me feel better that the managers know that there are problems and that they want to improve things.
