if we fail to get far, I'm behind Greece again.

If only so all those so-called experts can go cry about injustice again :)

The multi-talented Croatian soccer team coach Slaven Bilic has taped a new Croatian football team anthem at the EURO 2008 with his Rawbau band, the song titled Fiery Madness (Vatreno ludilo) He is the sole author of the lyrics and music and plays the guitar.

There seems to be some support for Switzerland as a dark horse. I saw Euro '04 so I do understand the "Greece Effect" and with them being a co-host that will also offer some advantages. But I do not see them advancing in a group of Turkey, Czech's & Portugal - just can't see it. Is Switzerland that strong?? I saw them lose 1-0 to the US in Basel at the end of '07....

they are rubbish right now. but you never know, once the tournament starts, with them being hosts, and the coach making a great job preparing the team in the weeks leading up to the euros, they could be completely transformed..

I don't even see how its possible that the Swiss are being considered as contenders to win the Euros.. hahaha (although, stranger things have happened.)

I certainly don't. they were really quite bad lately. but the euros are more open than the world cup. but to pull off a Greece, one needs a genius manager. and I don't think the Swiss have that. I still think they'll make it to the qarters, with luck maybe the semis, but that'll be it.

Basing anything on friendlies is ignorant. The Swiss advanced to the second round of the WC, losing to the Ukraine by PKs. They're not a great side, but with home advantage they could push far.

They're one of few big football nations that still dare to try and play proper football, and they have the least number of annoying footballers in the squad as far as I can tell.

And they've got superstar striker Blaise N'Kufo.

Switzerland is usually quite a mediocre side, but generally not pushovers. They always have some talent walking around.

BTW, as the championship is now only a month away, I'd like to change my stance to this:

"The Netherlands have never been eliminated in the group phase of a tournament even though in the last tournaments, we have constantly been in the so-called 'group of death'. So let the Italians or the French go take a hike, but we're going to make it out of group C"

Has a nice ring to it.

I don't hate you as a person, I just don't like as you constantly try to teach us how "proper football" is played. There are different philosophies on how to play football, and at the same time, noone of those are the "right" way to play it.

    how old are you, 12?

I know you'll just put your fingers into your ears, but I'll say it anyway. I also find your 'only my way is the right way!' attitude pretty annoying. what happened to dutch tolerance?

I'm not trying to teach anyone anything, I'm expressing my opinions. Correct me if I'm wrong but I thought that was what this medium was all about.

Besides the fact Portugal making the final..Scolari just said hes still going to call that crap Petit even though hes shit, and hes been even worse this season with injury and more horrnedous play then usual...so were screwed..hes one of scolaris lover boys.

Holland is starting to take shape, Robben has been getting fitter and fitter( and losing more and more strands of hair:D) and ruud is back.

Van Persie will be a worry though.

And im not sure about your defence..3 goals to austria..i mean..honestly..but you have themassive firepower to comeback like you did.

    Holland could outscore its opponents.

We've always been rubbish defensively! That said, the three goals in Austria were all thanks to goalkeeping errors, by our third goalkeeper.

We could be quite good and we could be quite rubbish, I really have no idea. Plenty of individual quality both in midfield and in the attack but unfortunately that guarantees nothing.

Hmm, I don't like Turkey and they are just third class for me, but zero points? Neither Portugal nor Czech Rep are in shape.

Germany won't lose to Switzerland. The last defeat was more than 50 years ago. It's a psychological thing.

Russia beats Holland? I don't think they're going to reach the quarters.

Just wanted to let everyone know that awesome news came out today regarding ESPN's coverage of Euro. They have teamed up with Coldplay who is going to use the music from their new album to provide all the music for their coverage.

"Coldplay and ESPN have signed a marketing deal that will have the rock band promoting soccer and the sports network promoting the band's new album.

Coldplay's music will be featured in promotions for ESPN's coverage next month of the European Championship soccer tournament, the sports network announced Wednesday.

ESPN agreed to incorporate music from Coldplay's new release, "Viva La Vida," into game and studio production. The quadrennial tournament is scheduled for June 7-29 in Austria and Switzerland. The CD is due out June 12."
