Its seems that the British invasion is taking over L.A. "A British comedy festival, UK film retrospective and a celebrity soccer match hosted by Beckham's new Los Angeles Galaxy soccer team are among the festivities for BritWweek being launched at the British consulate in L.A. on Thursday." lol I wouldn't say the Brits are taking over L.A. You have like 2 million mexicans and south americans to compete with your 100k of brits living in L.A. In fact, the only reason L.A. even has one or even two MLS teams for that matter, IS because of the mexican and south american influence here in L.A. You have another 1, 900, 000 people to go! -KCBBQ
What a Debbie Downer you are I'm pretty sure the Mexican number is little bit more than that, but let's just keep that to ourselves to avoid freaking anybody out. Don't underestimate the Brits, the contigent may be small but they're well organized. A little spice goes a long way.

Is Richard Blade going to play? Is he even British? He's lived here for 30 years and still has that accent, which sounds fake.
Anyone see a list of who is playing in the "showbiz" game before the RBNY/Galaxy game? Just curious...

Hi, I'm new to the board but I'm looking for some info. A friend and I have got tickets to Saturday's game but have no idea how to get there. We are both travellers from England, and will be staying in Venice Beach. Neither of us can drive, and the public transportation seems to be completely useless in LA! It is currently looking like we are going to have to pay a fortune for taxis there and back. If anyone has any suggestions - perhaps a shuttle bus that we may not know about. We are both big Manchester United fans, and we're really looking forward to seeing Beckham play. We are also looking for somewhere to watch the final games (Manchester United vs. Wigan mainly!) of the Premiership on Sunday morning in a bar somewhere close to Venice - again, if anyone has any suggestions, they'd be appreciated - the games kick off at 7am Pacific Time, so we need to find somewhere that has Setanta Sports coverage AND opens early! Thanks
The not driving thing will be kind of hard, but the best place to watch the match is the Olde Ye Kings Head in Santa Monica. They will be open and serving beers for the match. You should be able to google them
If he's in Venice, the Cock & Bull on Lincoln, just north of the light at Marine (firstlight after Rose) is closer. You can take the Big Blue Bus there--the #2 crosses the route of the #3 bus, which goes up Lincoln. http://www.bigbluebus.com/systemmap/basic.asp#
But TheCock & Bull is a Liverpool bar...the Kings Head is a ManU bar and they are really not that far apart
You can take a bus North on Lincoln to Santa Monica Blvd and walk toward the Beach. Kings Head is on the South Side of the street. There might be a bus down Main St, too. This website has all the bus routes... http://www.metro.net/default.asp Use the route planner. You can plan a trip from the bar to the stadium too. It'll take about an hour and a half, but it's possible.
The Cock & Bull is traditionally considered a Liverpool bar at least that is what I have always been told. I know for a fact that Kings Head is a ManU bar. Both obviously let in everyone but they are mainly aligned with those clubs
