    That's funny about Cohen!:)

I'll call him on Monday and see what kind of spin he puts on the game. The big thing I've heard him say lately is that the league is stacking the deck in the Galaxy's favor, so I guess we'll hear more of that!

I know man. What the hell was he trying to do basket catch that ball? Oh well. The U.S. has enough good goalies. We really don't need another.

******** Cohen. Awesome game tonight. Two solid centerbacks and this team can contend for a top spot in the west. Chivas looked exhausted around minute 83. Good to see the team running like it was minute 20 and seeing them gassed out! LD is on fire! Hopefully the team can keep this ass-kicking mood and get a big result in Salt lake.

Worst ratings? We've now allowed 11 goals in 5 games, third worst in MLS, and if you've seen every game, you've seen X, Cronin and Vanney be the cause of most of them.

Need 2 new center def. and Wicks to win 75% of the games.:)

At least we now know what the Galaxy staff sees in Gordon...

That man is deadly from 2 feet out. :D

I told everyone Gordon was good. Just got to have faith. Fifa shows you the truth haha. Just wondering if people in the stands thought that ACB and the Galaxians looked/sounded? Maybe even if people saw it on tv? Other than the fights that broke out up top by the bathrooms, it was a fun atmosphere behind that goal.

Question for those that know soccer rules well.

This is in regards to Gordon's header vs. Guzan.

Since Thomas was the person that kicked the ball straight into the air, Guzan couldn't use his hands right? So guzan had to go head to head, excuse the pun, with Gordon.

    Do I have this correct?

Technically he can't but it seems the dynamic rule is that if the ball is hit in error and goes back to the keeper then it's ok. At least that's how the refs are calling it. It's supposed to be ok in the instance of a deflection only, but that's not how it's playing out. If he would of caught that, I doubt it would be called.

actually the guzan was legally able to catch/punch that ball out considering that shavar didnt deliberately pass it back to him. (pass back rule). if shavar intentionally kicked it to him, its a pk.
also, and for the record, if you pass the ball back to the keeper with anything other than your foot - and the gk can pick it up.

We were all over him from section 102. I was glad to see him finally show his true colors when Chivas got their second goal and he jumps out of his seat and starts dancing around with the goat herders. He's been barely hiding his hatred for the Galaxy for so damn long on his show. Now he's been outed. He heard from us in the stands tonight. Lets make sure he hears from us on FFF too.

BTW, if it's still in his blood after tonight, he should probably go see a doctor about that. ;)

Best game ever! Maybe not but damn I had some annoying Chivas fans behind me who wouldn't shut up about beckham sucking the whole game and it was so much fun cheering the last 3 goals in their face. Thank you Galaxy!

Go ahead and cry me a river about the refereeing and everything that needs to be fixed about the MLS- I saw a great game between a good pair of rivals with great energy in the seats from the fans, (theres my unbaised view. . .)

For my biased view- LA LA LA LA LA LA! Five goals pretty amazing, landon on 8 in 5 games? I dont even know what to say, keep it goin and this could be a pretty great year- still cant wait for ruiz to get back, he wouldve got on the scoreboard that game for sure

Cronin just makes me nervous everytime I see him near the ball.

Great stuff tonight from the midfield on up, and Sean Franklin.

    Alright! What a great game!

Good to see Gordon put 2 away I hope it will boost his confidence so much of any players game is between the ears.

Gullit is really making a difference.

    Liked these quotes from Donoham

LD: "Clearly, having David healthy and fit has taken pressure away from me and also provided me with some good chances," Donovan said after scoring a hat trick in the Los Angeles Galaxy's 5-2 victory over city rivals Chivas on Saturday.

"When David gets the ball and I'm running off the ball, it makes it very easy to know what to do."

Donovan ran his MLS-leading total to eight goals in the Galaxy's five games.

DB: "He has scored some great goals," England international Beckham said. "He's a special player. He proved tonight that he's not just about scoring goals inside the box. He works hard.

"When we have a player in the form that he's in, it gives the team some confidence."

    Awwww!

Also some one asked if LD was inspired by Becks - and LD's quotes suggest he is to some extent but I remember from when I used to see Beckham play live for Man United at OT that one thing you can't always see on TV - and I'd be interested in the views of those who attended the match - but he can make a difference because he is double marked which frees up others. Also with his very dangerous service - I would expect most MLS coaches will put together a match plan with priority one being to shut him down - priority number one probably used to be LD - and it will still be the case that they want to shut LD down but opposing teams are going to have a harder job containing both of them and so I can only imagine that that has to help LD... well just a thought...

Also some one asked if Beckham got an assist tonight. Yep he did.

I gotta get the hang of this quoting thing... sorry.

    F**k Yeah!

    The Bad

Man, X and Cronin are going to kill me. Prior to us opening up a two goal lead, I would always piss my pants whenever Chivas went at X from the ground, knowing full well X doesn't have the legs. X did well to intercept and block off the attempted long balls, though. That second goal was just a comedic error on the part of X.

And Cronin. I think the guy just inspires confidence in an opposing striker. He is too timid and hesitant. I know he came out for that one ball that Galindo was running onto, but that was a clear situation. Cronin lacks decisiveness in those situations where it might not be as readily apparent that he needs to boss the situation. And his positioning and ball handling skills still need work. Do you guys think it was Cronin's positioning that allowed Galindo (or was it Mendoza) to unleash that sick shot across Cronin which ricochet off the back post? Could that shot have been thwarted through better positioning by Cronin?

And lastly, Buddle. I just don't think that he has a great understanding yet with Donovan. Prime example was his shot on goal. Donovan had made a run, and was clearly looking for a lob into the box from Buddle, but Buddle decided to go for a shot. Now, it was not a bad shot, but there was a much better option on that play, and it was not as if Donovan was approaching from out of nowhere. He was in front of Buddle the whole time, and in fact was the one that passed the ball to Buddle.

    The Good

Everything else. Alan Gordon, take a bow. What a difference from the Toronto FC game, when he was lacking when it came to following up on plays. Tonight, both his goals came from following through on plays. He refused to cede the ball to Guzan for is first goal, and he followed through with the play for his second goal.

    Landon Donovan - EPIC.

Mike Randolph - Amazing! Has the legs to cover Vanney on defense, and was very smart with the ball at his feet. Excellent run to set up Donovan for the second goal, and also on another occasion where he fed Donovan a ball (only in this instance Donovan whiffed it). And I love that he shot the shit out of that ball. No touches, no attempts to control it or settle it, just put his boot through it. The guy can shoot on the run, but he just needs some variety in his shots. He needs to learn how to curl the ball around the goalie if he is going to go for a nearpost shot.

Joe Franchino - Absolutely bossed the midfield. What an acquisition. I knew nothing of this guy prior to last week.

Becks - Solid game from him. Although he did have that one snaffu in the first half where he lobbed the toward the Galaxy goal, and it wound up straight into the path of a Chivas player. Luckily that play got broken up and nothing came of it. But he did what he needed to. Made his presence felt and exploited the Chivas defense's preoccupation with Donovan to get nice and open on that play that led to Gordon's second goal. His deliveres today, though, were awesome. Those long-range free kicks into the box were fantastic.

Barring a few defensive lapses, the team played fantastic. There is actual chemistry and cohesion developing amongst the players, and both these aspects were severely lacking all last season. More of this please, LAG.

    Regards,

    Mr. J

Its Jair Marrufo, the most useless piece of shit official in North America (see the WSOF game 1 from last summer and one of the US Gold Cup games for reference)

For good luck, Beckham CAN NOT shave that weird beard he had going on. By the end of the season, he BETTER be rocking the Lalas look!

    woo wooooooooo!!!

What a great offensive performance. Landon Donovan is playing out of his mind right now....I just hope when comes down off his "high" he doesn't go ice cold.

If there's one thing that bugs the crap out of me is the fact that the Galaxy's goals come off great ball movement, tenacious players, and skill while the opposition get some bullsh*t goal on a stupid defensive lapse.

If the Galaxy can get their defense any more solid, this is definitely going to be a championship calibre team...they're so fun to watch right now.

Oh, and Franchino...what a great midfield enforcer...I hope he keeps it up.

If we can just get our defense organized (and pick up a solid central defender in the transfer window) this team might go places...

...and that Donovan kid is pretty good.

My 11 year old, a huge Man United fan and critic of all other teams, absolutely
had to stay up and watch this game to the very end, 11:30pm central. It wasn't the goal scoring, he was captivated at 1-1.
If this type of game atmosphere can continue and spread, the next generation will be hooked on MLS. Great game L.A..
