In keeping with the ESPN's incredible track record for inane comments, we present tonight's offering: Comparing goalkeeper Ken Cooper sr. with striker Ken Cooper jr, we hear "Who could teach a striker better than a goalkeeper?" Who, indeed? Who could teach a pitcher better than a catcher? Who could teach a quarterback better than a wide receiver? Who could teach a teacher better than a student?
That's funny. I still think JP is the best option out there for ESPN2 games. Not so sure about Harkes.
I thought there were significant stretches of the game where Harkes really didn't have anything to say, and said it at great length. Then other parts where he was relatively insightful (not that I necessarily agreed with his views, just found them defensible.) The bad parts just had that "I'm supposed to be paying attention to this meeting, but I'm actually text messaging somebody with my phone hidden under the table" disjointed feel to them. Weird.
JP Dellacamra had an off game I do have to admit. I'm a big fan of his and like Chowda said, he's ESPNs best option as long as Derek Rae won't pick up the MLS mic again. That other guy who does Champions League is good too. Harkes on the othe hand...He's truly a legend of American soccer, and really knows his stuff, but listening to him speak is like being back at my night class Sociology lectures at the highly-esteemed Dean College. In other words, I'm bored out of my skull. In closing, yes, that was a pretty stupid thing to say.
Haha, I found myself singing: "Milk and Serioux, milk and Serioux... Serioux and Milk! Serioux and Milk!"
