The Earthquakes have decided to not allow and not sell blast horns for games in Santa Clara. Blast horns will still be allowed and sold for games in Oakland. Anthony Perry Ticket Sales Representative San Jose Earthquakes
That is SPECTACULARLY AWESOMELY STUPENDOUSLY WONDERFUL NEWS!!!! From a long time season tick holder. Cheers, Battch GO QUAKES!!!
What he said except I'd add "Fantastic", "Excellent", and maybe throw in a "Glorious". ... I continue to be impressed with just about every decision the front office and team staff makes. Thanks!
I wish I had one of those smily faces that is bowing down. Awesome news and I totally agree. While they're not bad in a big stadium creating noise where there might not be any, especially one we can't fill like Oakland due to the tarps. In a small stadium they just aren't going to be needed. Place will be hoping with all of us in there.
Correct me if I'm wrong but this just applies to those compressed gas signaling horns and not the equally obnoxious plastic "blow-with-your-mouth" horns, right?
If they're talking about selling these horns at the game, I must conclude that these are the plastic variety, not the air-horns you see on boats. And just to add my 2 cents...Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!
They don't (and wouldn't) sell compressed gas noise makers at sporting events, so yes, they are talking about the long plastic horn noise makers. Lee
Best thing I've heard today. I suppose "blast horns" mean the plastic horns. There was one clown mofo with a compressed air horn at the Chicago game on the 3rd. Those things are damaging.
I would assume it applies to the "obnoxious plastic horns" as the Quakes didn't sell gas horns at the Coliseum
After last week's victory, this is the best Quakes news since the season began! Great decision by the Quakes FO. We now have an opportunity to have the best stadium atmosphere in the MLS at Buck Shaw. Casbah and Ultras, the stage is now yours. Time to show everyone exactly what you are capable of. We have spoken, and the FO has listened. Who said Sounders FC was the only team who understood "democracy in sports"?
Someone should make T-shirts that say "blow this horn" with an arrow pointing down Those things are annoying!
I remember when the air/boat horns were banned from MLS stadiums. Not because they were annoying, but because that's what the 4th official used to signal the end of the half/game. They wanted to avoid any confusion. Remember that league? Man, I hated that league!
This is completely excellent news!! I hate those horns!! I look forward to seeing and hearing the Mighty Atmosphere at the Mighty Buck Shaw!!! Hey, I live 700 miles away. I'm going to have to watch on TV. GOOOOO QUAAAAAAKES!!!! - Mark
Yet another positive differentiating contrast between Buck Shaw (and the eventual Epicenter) and the home of the filth - the HDC (horn droning cacaphony). The atmosphere at Quakes games will be far superior to anything the SoCal folks will ever see in their home. Excellent decision by the front office!
Then Anthony should have said that those "obnoxious pastic horns will not be sold or allowed at Buck Shaw".
I don't know. The thundersticks don't bother me as much as the horns do. And, it seems that those things get handed out for one game and rarely make a second appearance. Since they seem to always be handed out as a promotion of some sort, maybe the people who want to advertise can hand out something else. Now, of course, if you, FUAEG, have been beaten up by juveniles with thundersticks, maybe we should ban them.
