Why does FSW Canada not broadcast MLS games in Canada? I know that Toronto FC rights were snapped up by 3 difft networks (CBC, Rogers Sportsnet and The Score), but surely there is room to show games not involving TFC? Does anybody have an answer?
The same reason why FSW Canada no longer airs English Premier League: the rights fee was too high in relation to what FSW Canada can recoup from advertising sales (almost nonexistent, given the relatively small number of a la carte subscribers) and subscription fees.
Actually I think its quite different than that. FSW Canada had COMPETITION for the EPL rights and they were acquired by others. Nobody shows MLS in Canada (other than TFC games). Perhaps some FSWC people can confirm. Are the rights fees too high? They were giving that sh!t away a year or two ago. And FSW Canada does show the MLS teams in the CONCACAF club games.
Exactly. MLS practically gave away its TV product in Canada through 2006. MLS now wants a TV rights fee in Canada now that David Beckham is a featured player in MLS.
I think you can get new england revolution on WSBK maybe not this year though. IMO this channel should not even exist anymore, Reruns of "Guy STuff" probably one of the most pointless shows on TV, yet one that is shown on 5-6 different channels, several times on each throughout the week, cant possibly have more than a dozen viewers, I dont know how it works, but Seriuosly, there literally cannot be more than 5-10 PEOPLE watching this on purpose,. How can I prove this to get this shows funding cut, I'm on a mission.
I totally agree....the 2 talk shows that they run are absolutely awful....John Moore and John Oakley...some of the regular panel guys on Oakley's show are just pathetic. They show 2nd rate Mexican league games, IFL, 10+ hours of the Soccer Report, etc etc.
Well in their defence, they have carried the CONCACAF club championships (which featured MLS teams up until this round). Quite a good game last night.
they do have some stuff, like the FA cup right now, and the cost isnt much (1.99). those talk shows really piss me off though. The funny thing is, this is by far one of the BEST channels in the 100s, because at least there is -some- original programming and live sports, instead of movie reruns or old tv shows.
